As a lover of mtg and existential philosophy, thank you, I love finding how philosophy relates to real life. Life imitates art and art imitates life, philosophy is also art.

I understand the point of view of this video, and agree that magic is inherently a luck based game, but I think most of the arguments downplay the skill component of the game. Obviously deck-building choices matter, but even in a mirror match, skill can overcome luck and the player with the objectively worse draws can still come out on top. There is a reason why the best players in the game's history are the best, and it's not because they are "luckier" than others, at least in the sense of the game.

You're right. I might've gone too hard and put too much emphasis on luck over skill. It's hard balancing that and talking about Absurdism 🤔
@The619man16 ай бұрын
@@IchikaRikaCh That's totally fair. In your defence as well, most of the time skill is express over trends, spanning hundreds of games. Luck is generally experienced within each individual game. Most people view their game experiences through each game, generally disconnected from the one before and after, so it's a lot easier as humans to see and identify the luck aspect over the skill aspect.

i will want to add I Have 2 decks that are built so well i never draw what i dont need but its so focused the only issue i can have is if i dont pull 1-2 islands after a mulligan i just need 2 islands to do the rest of my objective, one is a manarock / mana creation and i use that mana too steal your cards (the deck isnt played so much cause its powerful / also its a commander memnarch deck ), the other deck is a minsc and boo deck built around buff spells that buff my cards i use too nuke my enemy, 90% of the decks success is me making sure i always find a new avenue to upgrade my luck based hurdle (for minsc and boo that was changing the build from dinos that are big (since i wasn't guaranteed to have high ramp early i switch to buff spell , with recursion so i can run a tad more ramp then needed since i have like 10 draw spells and minsc and boo can draw 4 cards for me as well the turn after he drops , also i only play casual commander.... at like power level 7-9, we usually have 5+turn games the key to having more consistent games in my opinion is to build your deck with 20-30% of the core plan 10-20%draw around 40%lands 10-20%board removal/counterspells, and the rest you just fill in as needed to do the objective you want like ramp or whatever u need

my biggest point is really deck building is a huge way to remove a majority of the randomness id say if your looking for a less random card game the only one i know like that is grand archive since you have 12 cards that are always available each game

@@coleprater8228 I do understand what you're saying that deck building can be a huge way to tank the randomness down, however, you can never really escape bad draws. There are a lot of times when I'm playing my Temur deck and I cast Memory Deluge in hopes that I get something I can cast to either board clear or end the game and I'm met with 4 lands instead. Variety is part of the game that you cannot really take away.

this feels like an essay of a tilted man, who got mana flooded one to many time. Also *put nerd glasses on* You dont always untap you stuff and you dont always draw a card to keep on living. Screeches in [[Damia, Sage of Stone]] and [[Eon Hub]]

its already been proven multiple times that mtg arena fixes games and card draws so unless your playing in a tournament for money literally just throwing cards out at random will net a 40% winrate
@IchikaRikaCh6 ай бұрын
Any thread that I've read about this is purely anecdotal and doesn't have any hard data behind it. But then again, nothing is "truly random." I play Bo3 mostly because I don't want the "draw two hands and show the best one" mechanic and want to keep it as close as possible to Paper.

Boy. Mtg arena is very toxic. Do what everyone does and play commander or oathbreaker. Commander as precon level or less. Cedh is also very toxic. magic is a wonderful game, camus never play mtg (sadly) you need to learn more concepts. Consistency. Mana curves. Mana necesities. How ever. Play commander and be happy
@IchikaRikaCh6 ай бұрын
Every competitive game is toxic. Commander and Oathbreaker are both casual formats and ofc it wouldn't be toxic since you guys are not playing for money. I've been playing Magic for years now. I know theories, deck building, and all the other stuff. LMAO.

The only people who call cedh toxic are the people who are toxic and biased against cedh Casual commander has more toxicity in rule0 talks alone than cedh has in a pod with 3 stax decks
