I really like young wolf. a 1/1 for a green that turns into a 2/2 when it dies is cool enough, but it activates morbid abilities, like hunger of the howlpack. You can chump swing, he dies, comes, back, hunger, he turns into a 5/5 early as turn two. You can infernal plunge him to get a 2/2, then use the mana to get huntmaster of the fells on turn two. He's not as good as the commons listed here, but I think he deserves some recognition as an underrated card.

Exactly. Delver is a build around card and powerfull when built around, though it lacks in universal use.
@alpharage109012 жыл бұрын
You are correct. Although Pestilence was uncommon in Battle Royale aswell, but I'm unsure whether or not that actually counts.
@SpiderWaffle12 жыл бұрын
Empyrial Armor, I'd say was top all time, it was pre-tempest but should have been mentioned. In a set with almost no removal beside low damage burn, playing this on the 3rd turn usually was gg.
@kourii12 жыл бұрын
Pestilence was common in Alpha. It wasn't uncommon until like 6th, and I think that was its only uncommon printing.
@manxset13 жыл бұрын
Great video! I especially agreed with Pestilence. It got no respect when it was in Type II (Standard) just because it wasn’t a rare.

No Sprout Swarm?
@wsamkor10 жыл бұрын
yeah they clearly missed that. Sprout swarm is for sure better than most/all cards on that list.
@paulallen5794 жыл бұрын
They even feature Future Sight on a list of the worst sets simply because of Sprout Swarm destroying Time Spiral limited. They must've forgot about it because Sprout Swarm makes the format so boring. I played against Sprout Swarm four times out of six matches during FS pre-release. It felt like I had no chance whatsoever once it resolved.

In an PTQ Top 8 in January 1999 we did Triple-Saga draft, and everyone watching thought I made a mistake not drafting Pestilence. Instead, I drafted R/U weenie and easily beat the guy everyone thought drafted the best deck, and then almost got a win that would have given me a PT entry.

@Theiammadmad Hey, I'm not arguing against pestilence. I can recall this one draft, though, where I went mono green with 20 bodies and 3 rancors. I wound up going 6-0 and beating the top 2 players in the state (at that time). You can see how my opinion might be a little biased, lol.

Hmm, no sprout swarm? Not like I played the format a lot, and the card was only in the last booster of the set, but it seemed completely bonkers :)

I think they restricted it to one card per limited format, so they took Pestilence over Rancor since black was very good in Urza and Pestilence just made it even better. They also forgot Waterfront Bouncer in Masques, but Troubled Healer made the good decks even more broken.

It was such a shame because I actually enjoyed TSTSTS and TSTSPC limited, but future sight detroyed everything with Sprout Swarm. Especially in the pre-releases, Jesus Chirst, I played against this card probably four out of six times and I always felt like there was nothing I could've done to win. It's definitely an un-fun card.

I never found Delver that good in draft, the decks that abuse him tend to have to be built around him which was much harder to do in draft.

Spikeshot Elder is not a common. Being that you could get 1-3 Spikeshot Goblins in triple Mirrodin consistently versus one Elder every draft or so in triple Scars draft is very relevant.

very disappointing they make the point to "honorable mention" kavik's torch but fail to mention the more recent imperial armor, just 1 set before their tempest cutoff, which I think that format without any way to remove a 6 toughness creature, they did straight weatherlight draft or sealed then, was arguably the most dominate card of all the ones they listed. LSV didn't play during wild west and it shows.
