So going by Asgore and Toriel's logic of describing what their magic represents... Vines. The obvious choice is Flowey - he was in that soulless form for so long, it eventually got seeded (bah dum tssss) into his soul. But let's take another look at it. Vines, like any plant, grow (could I be more obvious?). Growth represents many things, but I think for Asriel, it's his growth out of the past. He's trying to outgrow his memories of Chara and of being Flowey. Also, vines represent perseverance. Try cutting down a part of a vine, check in a few weeks later, and a new one's already replaced it. Asriel's small sword could represent the flowers of a vine - most of them have smaller blooms. His current incapability at fire magic should be obvious now - vines and flames don't mix well. Edit: Suggested by DragoNet661, the thorns could be a sort of defense mechanism, a warning to stay back. But that's just my theory.

I actually wonder if maybe it was the other way around. In the context of the growthspurt AU, maybe there was a reason he turned into a _flower_ of all things after losing his soul. Perhaps he turned into a flower because that reflects his personality. _Something_ had to keep Asriel alive without a soul after all, so why not magic? With that in mind, maybe his magic would've still been plantlike even without his experiences as Flowey, as it reflects him. Perhaps that's simply always been a part of him. But that's just food for thought.

I agree. And to be honest. I thought I would hate this AU. I thought it was just going to be some dorky comedy with Azzy as an anxty teenager, who the world just doesn't understand. Okay, he has some atitude, but it isn't over dramatized. He went through hell, and is just trying to understand his life now. This one (and unpleasant) show that really well. That he's trying to fit in, that he's trying to get past his, well past. He also gets a bit of a pass with the attitude. The things he did are well beyond anything we really can understand. Accept Frisk, who he can acrually relate to. And this AU really plays with that. The fact that Frisk can insult him one second, joke with him the next, and even cuddle when he needs physical contact for suport speaks volumes on how well written all these characters are.

I am falling in love with this comic dub. The voices are well-acted with strong emotion The characters dont just get over their pain or guilt and they have to actively work on it like any trauma survivor. I do hope frisk gets more development because they certainly aren't innocent, even if they never did a geno run the fact that flowey killed them in excess of several thousand times means they went through many neutral runs. And if they did go geno then how do they cope with literally ending all existance, something even flowey never did.

The vines in Asriel's magic represent pain and ensnarement, as if the real Asriel is held back by vines, but the flowers represent a calm and beautiful future, or the time Asriel is in now. A calm timeline after a pacifist run, where even Asriel was reborn to enjoy. So really, it is who he is. Scared and trapped, but very calm and bright.

His magic is vines which sometimes have thorns meant to hurt people who get to close representing flowey but they also can have flowers that represent life and compassion representing asriel
