First of all, I just followed your lollipop ear tutorial and it’s amazing. Second of all, do you think you’ll ever do another ear tutorial for ones that you’ve never made before, or ones that you have? Also, your churro ears inspired me to make four different kinds of churro ears! You’re awesome!!💖💖💖 Edit: also, I don’t sell any ears, but I do like to make them for myself! 💖

Your ears are so cute and I love watching your videos! Have you seen the new Minnie mouse macaron ears? Would you consider making a DIY tutorial for them?
@MagicallyEmily4 жыл бұрын
There's a reason why I don't already offer macaron ears and that's because they're too difficult (for me) to sew, so I think Disney's version is great!

Would you consider doing savory snack ears? Something like nachos, hot dogs, or egg rolls are more up my alley. If not, would you be willing to mock up a pair for a DIY vid for the crafting-challenged to follow? lol

You should definitely raise your prices. Supply and demand. Your demand is higher than what that you can make at a given time. I love these ear shop videos. They are my favorite to watch. :)
@Natalie_111884 жыл бұрын
I would say YES to your raising the prices. You certainly have a following with how quickly your shop sells out, people would pay 5% more for such high quality work.

I love watching your videos and I have been trying to order a pair of your beignet ears all year. I have a history of just missing out whenever your shop opens, but not today! It was my goal all day to be ready to place my order and it was such a relief to finally have it go through. Your ears clearly make a lot of people happy and I love that you put such thought and care into them. The beignets are hands down my favorite treat at Disney and I am so excited I will be able to add a pair to my collection :-)

I just love your videos about your Etsy shop! And yes up your prices! I’ve seen some small shop ears that does not seem to be super well made ie ears are kinda not round or you can see hot glue strings, in the photos. Your ears are of superb quality! Absolutely amazing!

This is a really good video. I am currently doing a shop that offers disney ear hooks. I know that a lot of other people do it, and ours are different than the mounts that most people do with the curved half circle. There is a shop that has been around a lot longer and has way more followers, but we have noticed the past few months that they have made small changes (similar to ours i.e. offering things included in the package, similar theme, etc) that they didn't have the past 2 years of doing this (we have only been doing this since April). They have a way bigger following and history on Etsy, but it can be discouraging when you are just starting out. Especially if you have put effort into creating yours different so that they don't look so similar. I don't feel that we are that big of a threat because we are just starting out, ours are different, and we just want to create what we love too. And if we have done something similar to anyone, it wasn't intentional. There are honestly soooo many different disney shops that I am constantly finding new ones. I have no idea every single thing that has ever been invented or designed. So it's hard!!

Hi Emily. Thanks for taking time to answer questions. That was good information about Etsy and how they provide the traffic. I never thought of that. Also I remember when you shared your lollipop ear tutorial and you beingbupset after when someone copied it. Very smart to keep some details to yourself. Enjoy your weekend. ~Ali 🎀🏰💖

i mean disney also kinda straightup stole your lolipop ears as well which made me so sad when i saw them for the first time in the parks. but theirs are so cheap and literally just hollow plastic. i laughed and was like yours are so much more high quality than DISNEY themselves. i appreciate that you don't take shortcuts in your work but again i think it goes back to your level of enjoyment in creating them and the pride you can take in your work afterwords.
@MagicallyEmily4 жыл бұрын
At least when I wear my lollipop ears to the Parks people ask if they’re real actual lollipops, I don’t think you can say the same for the Disney ones, lol
@isavel.xo974 жыл бұрын
Certainly not 😂 even from a distance Disney’s still just look like cheap plastic to me! Yours are vibrant and beautiful!

I love the brighter colors for disney's lollipop ears but I do not like the bow at all! I know that's what alot of people like about that pair but it's just not it for me. So I like Emily's bows more but I wish she could make more of brighter pastel color pallet like the disney pair if that was at all possible

Your mouse ears definitely seem sought after, especially seeing as you can only keep your shop open for a few minutes once a month. I really think you could raise your prices and still get as many orders. People are constantly waiting for you to open your shop up, so they aren't really doing a price comparison.
@isavel.xo974 жыл бұрын
totally agree, when i first thought about getting a pair for myself i was actually shocked at how affordable the prices were. seriously i mean some people are out here charging 90+ for crummy 3D printed ones that are no where near as gorgeous as emilys.
@MagicallyEmily4 жыл бұрын
I think I’ll continue to try and slowly raise my prices over time, I feel bad doing a large increase at once since it feels unfair to those who have been trying to get ears for some time

I've made a couple of ears (just for myself and my sisters) but I struggle with having them be too heavy. I use a thick foam because it helps round out the ears and makes them hold their shape well. I always end up really liking how they look but they slide off fairly easily because of the weight the foam adds. I'm ordering some rubber teeth in hope that will help but I was wondering if you have had problems with something like this as well...?
@MagicallyEmily4 жыл бұрын
That's the reason why I offer rubber teeth for my ears, the heavier designs can easily slide around or tilt forward and the teeth add the perfect amount of stability and grip
@jannekekersten96974 жыл бұрын
how long did it take before your shop kinda started off? i posted my first designs 3 weeks ago and barely get any traffic, let alone sales (haven't had any :/) it's really discouraging..
@MagicallyEmily4 жыл бұрын
I started in fall 2017, and it wasn’t until mid-late 2019 that my shop really started to take off. The ear market it so completely over saturated, you need to be sure you have a wholly unique top-notch product to catch the attention of buyers
@bethannsingh5874 жыл бұрын
Your ears are truly amazing, to recoup a little money , I think that you should make a few extra pairs of your best sellers and do a few raffles each month, charge ten dollars a chance and limit the number of entries to 50 per raffle . I have seen this done for a ton of Disney Merch. Try it 😂
@MagicallyEmily4 жыл бұрын
The only problem with raffles is that they’re illegal (basically gambling), but maybe hosting an auction would work!
@bethannsingh5874 жыл бұрын
Maybe I have the wording wrong,ugh. There are quite a few reputable sites that do this. it also allows people to have an extra chance to acquire your ears, if their fingers aren’t fast enough during one of your openings . First hand experience at that right here, haha your Beignet ears ,I will someday have the fastest fingers in the West and snag a pair, lol

GOD YES to raising your prices! The first time I tried to buy ears during one of your shop openings, my jaw literally dropped when I saw your prices because I thought they would be $60-$70. I’ve tried to buy ears from you three times now and I’ve just given up because I’m so annoyed that I can’t click fast enough. I just don’t even try anymore, so technically you lost a buyer because your prices are too low...
@MagicallyEmily4 жыл бұрын
I don’t think I would ever raise or put prices in the $60-70 range, it’s so prohibitively expensive for so many people, and I don’t want price to be the main barrier in getting ears

I think it’s completely wrong for people to steal people’s ideas and profit off it, but are you ok with people seeing ur ears and recreating them for themselves if they don’t sell them? DIY videos are designed for people to be able to replicate it for themselves for their own personal use, just not profit from it
