what they made was an authentic Chennai Style Biryani and they did a pretty good job. the sides were, well one was onion raitha made with thinly chopped onion and chopped green chillies and salt all three poured on curd and made as a raitha to cool us down while eating the biryani, and the other one in chennai what we muslims usually make and call is Baingan ki chutney which is made mainly of eggplant, little bit of peanuts grinded with lots of hand ground spices made it sometimes as a paste form or semi-gravy usually which goes amazing with the biryani.
