I ended up a bit philosophical with this act. It applies to magic and possibly to anything worthwhile we might pursue in life , like music for example. This man obviously loves what he is doing and wants to continue to pursue it. I saw more mistakes with him than with most magicians but I also know that getting tricks exactly right is extremely hard. If I found myself wanting to pursue magic I would already know that perfection will not be what I am known for. Very few can take perfection to great heights in magic. So whats left? In this case , energy , comedy and entertainment. These things are available to pursue almost equally for everyone. Instead of getting dissapointed at lack of perfection this guy has put MORE energy into things in his act that he CAN improve. I like his style and ability to entertain. I know too he can improve his technical execution with more time. He made it to an appearance on the Penn and Teller show. Already a HUGE accomplishment.

Really good thoughts Kirk! I think the same way... my goal is not to be the best magician technically... that would take such a huge time investment... and recently people have already upped the bar. So I want to focus on magic, but just include my personality and have fun... hopefully it's enough. That's my strategy as well. So I can completely agree with your line of thinking! :)

This is something different (in a good way). The most magicians who perform at the Penn and Teller show are using one of two tricks, but I see so many tricks in this video. Wow. Pere is very energetic, he has an awesome sense of humor, and his tricks are super creative. Also, he is able to make the audience laugh continuously. That's a great talent. Although sometimes it's a bit chaotic, I really love/enjoy Pere's performance.

when we get to the point where we know that true supernatural magic isn't real, then it is necessary to remember how magical pure entertainment is. Comedy-style magicians rank number 1 in my opinion. Shim Linn's (sorry for spelling) style with his pure genius and skill are a very fine (Planck Length) edge close 2nd. and when you combine the two like Richard (forgot the last name, the blind card mechanic dude) it's beyond wonder. This guy, although we all saw a bunch of mistakes, is definitely one of my favs. like you said, bad day, camera angles, just nervous in being in front of Penn and teller, and standing in the presence of Willow, i mean Lilly, i mean Allyson...

I have few points, the glasses gag was in the intro, they edited it out during the end when he intentionally show it. As for the trick creation I would be careful claiming that new magic ideas new, I have used ask Alexander website that searches the magic castle archive and I will say most of the illustrations have been thought of. And as you mentioned in the end he used an old children trick to end the act which is not his idea. I loved his humor and preference and definitely creative.

Another small slip was after he "vacuumed" up the pips, when he fanned the cards out to show everything was "back to normal" I spotted the 3 of hearts in the spread near the left end, right before he closed up and showed the blank card. Also, you could see the third heart that fell off was a pip and not really part of the card. But hey, super entertaining.

Regarding his "disappearing glasses"....I think we, the audience, was supposed to see that. We were supposed to figure that out....so that we would feel smart. So, in fact, if a camera angle caught that, I think it would add to the entertainment, not decrease it. And, as you said, his act was more about entertainment than about magic. Although, I have no idea how he got the pips on and off the cards. I liked it a lot.

Would love to perform magic but you know, once I learn the secrets, it's somewhat of a let down. I do a face palm and go, DUH! Hello, Megan! It was so simple! I think you might re-think what you though about the glasses at the end. As I was thinking about it I thought it was all part of the act, you know, I'm about to do a trick that isn't a trick at all because you see what I do, while I pretend that you thought I was doing a real trick. Do you think? What do you think?

The deck trick is pretty clever. He just takes a bunch of boxes and puts one card between the boxes that way it looks like he opened the box. He’s funny, and I liked the trick, but he gave a lot away. This was a big stage for him so I give him a pass for the nerves.

Watched the whole video I almost think the flashing as fast as he goes are hard to avoid maybe depending on the angle. I think the story is saying after I listened to your take on it, "is take dance lessons! at least for myself" and I know from personal experience as I was selected in college to dance with a beautiful Brazilian woman and I was so stiff and needed to learn to relax and flow with the music. I must say cardistry to start with and magic has really helped me interact with people. Some young ladies saw my cards and asked can you do a magic trick? and I have learned about 3 to 5 and learned how not to let the participant(s) ruin the trick. So, I do the trick and they go, "Wow! How did you do that!" They really don't want to know! I remember I did the angel at lady and she goes wow! do that again. Don't do it again! The same trick twice isn't a trick at all. Just what I've noticed. And thanks for your comprehensive lessons I remember I learned the card flick from you and that one I've added to a reveal at the end of pretending like I failed to find their card after looking through the entire deck and they really love it.

Respectfully, the comment above is to share my progress as you are more advanced than myself at magic. Also I was wondering if you could make the Dr. Who TARDIS sound to phase out. Just now thought of you could make us disappear to where you go and then bring us back and the you go. (Make up something like, "Hey you get back here now this time stay!" Explained: So you click us out by accident then the audience being anywhere else you can imagine to put us we hear a another click which brings us back and after that you say something to us you click out. Hmmm where will we appear? A raging party? A peaceful park?

Wow GREAT to hear! Glad you are enjoying magic and cardistry and were able to learn to shoot a card from my tutorial. I really like that move. :) Thanks for sharing your progress with it. @@MDSF90 I knew he already hit the cards, but the angle is still horrible. The first time I watched it, I thought he did a deck switch or something when he moved his arm up and down 1,2,3 times. The second time I watched it, I realized his hand didn't even leave our view, but I also noticed that the cards were already jumbled. So that means that the deck is already set-up and all those cards are already in it. Idk where he did a deck swap if any, unless he used jumping on the table to do something ... idk

I think I remember a magician talking about her appearance on the show, and how she was surprised that they chose the part they chose to show on TV when P&T's comments were about other stuff, so I assume the actual act may be longer in Las Vegas than we see on TV. Similar to how many have said that the actual interview can take minutes (which P&T can use to confer) but only a section is shown. Also the "goodbye fist bump" he did with "randomly selected audience member" looked like they had more interaction before.
