This app has always been awesome, but now it’s absolutely AMAZING! Admittedly, I wasn’t paying attention to an announcement of this beta version until I stumbled onto it the other day. I did my floor plan the original way and it was spot-on accurate once I corrected some measurements with input from my laser. Then I tried the beta version of this auto-capture and created the same floor plan in a fraction of the time and accurately from the first pass! The next eval I did I relied solely on the auto-capture and it did a phenomenal job in a complicated space with little input from me. Great job, y’all! Keep up the great work and know that you’re making my life so much easier when I do an evaluation.

Good job. I wonder if you were using gps for indoor location, if so, how is the performance if you reach somewhere with poor connection, let's say basement.
@magicplan Жыл бұрын
Hi there! An internet connection is not required to create floor plans in magicplan, including when using the scanning feature. It's important, however, to sync your projects to the cloud by pressing the sync button as soon as you're back online. If you don't, your projects will remain stored only on your device. You can find more about this here: help.magicplan.app/cloud-back-up Hope this helps! If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to our support team at support@magicplan.app

@@magicplan Thanks for your reply. I meant when you walk around the house without internet connection, how do you determine the users' indoor position?

@@karryng6685 These devices frequently incorporate extra sensors to enhance location accuracy without requiring an internet connection. These sensors help the device understand its orientation and movement, making it easier to stitch together a continuous and accurate floor plan as you walk around.

Amazing. Ive used Magic plan before however has failed to produce good plans in rooms with furniture. Has the tech improved with Lidar on the iphone 15 pro? Also, how do you fill in the chuncks on the plans eg. on the far left and far right of 2d plan here? THanks
@magicplan Жыл бұрын
Hi James! The LiDAR Auto-Scan (for this you need iOS 17 and an Apple Pro device) also scans your furniture, correct. You find all the details here >> Scan a Floor Plan with LiDAR Auto-Scan (iOS) If you create the rooms singularly, then you can Assemble Your Rooms to Create a Floor Plan. If you need specific editing instructions (like deleting a wall) or anything about this topic, please let me know. We discussed how to resolve potential issues with the LiDAR Auto-Scan in our recent video >> Conversations with 🔵 magicplan's CEO - Andreas Böhm. Since I am not 100% sure to understand what you mean by "fill in the chunks" if you want, you can send me a picture of that room at support@magicplan.app then I can give you further info Silvia

Hi can i use this app to create a floor plan then export the floor plan to add outlets ,lights fire doors etc?
@thomashartmann5037 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. I am going to use MagicPlan to scan the areas with Lidar on an iPad Pro and then export the plans in pdf or obj if 3D is needed and import the files, in my case to either Live Home 3D Pro or Chief Architect Home Designer Pro (depending of the type of project requirements).
@magicplan Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can certainly use magicplan to create a floor plan and then export it for further detailing. Additionally, magicplan includes a comprehensive object catalog that features items such as outlets, lights, and fire doors, allowing you to add these elements directly within the app as well.

Hola Gustavo 🙂 the main limitation of Auto-Scan is its behaviour in open spaces. The current version requires each room to be closed, with all walls connected, in order for it to appear in the 2D sketch. This poses an issue in open floor plans where your device might start scanning an adjoining room before completing the one you're in. We recommend using the Manual-Scan in these cases >> help.magicplan.app/scan-a-room-in-seconds-using-lidar

Using this currently for my flooring company. I'm struggling with rooms that are open concept. Stair cases seem to break the model, and it won't let me close a wall. Or if the app doesn't like the height of a tall ceiling, it won't close the room and I end up throwing away 10 minutes of scanning in front of the customer. I'm excited for where this is going but its so frustrating seeing an orange wall and doing everything to fix it but it won't close.

Hi there! I understand your frustration with the current Auto-Scan feature. It is important to note that this is a beta feature. So that you're aware, the main limitation of Auto-Scan is its behavior in open spaces. The current version requires each room to be closed, with all walls connected, in order for it to appear in the 2D sketch. This poses an issue in open floor plans where your device might start scanning an adjoining room before completing the one you're in. We recommend using the Manual-Scan in these cases >> help.magicplan.app/scan-a-room-in-seconds-using-lidar Here are some tips when using Auto-Scan: Close doors to other rooms, when possible, so the device only captures the room you're in. Check the 2D map in the corner of the scan before completing a room (if you see it in 3D, tap the "3D" button next to the red button), to make sure all of the walls are green. If any walls are orange, that means the room did not scan completely and won't show in your floor plan once you're done scanning. Hope it helps 🙂 Silvia

Does this work on Subfloor without walls. Looking to scan a floor without walls to design the rooms

I was excited to install this app to test out on my Pixel after watching the video. Sadly, it was a totally different experience than what is demonstrated here. Will you please add the ability to move points/corners/lines while in the AR mode? It sucks to map out an entire room only to find out once you're done that one point was off (typically behind a piece of furniture, tub, or cabinet that can't be moved) only to have to redo the entire thing. If I could long press on a line and drag it to the proper point when I see the issue it would make edits a snap. Instead, it wants me to click a point int he line to add a door or window or something. Maybe click can remain the same but long pressing the same line gives you the ability to move it? So far, with limited testing, that's my primary sticking point. New Pixel 9 is on the way but it also doesn't have LiDAR, sadly.
@magicplan5 ай бұрын
Hi there, The Pixel devices do not have the LiDAR feature, as you noticed. For this to work you need iOS 17 and an Apple Pro device, because there is an extra sensor built in these devices that is needed for the scan to work. More info here >> help.magicplan.app/auto-scan-your-floor-plan You cannot edit the project while you scan the room, but you can edit your floorplan, move walls, change objects etc. after the scanning is completed. Hi, does the magicplan only work well with spaces that are completely empty? what if there are furnitures in place? thanks
@magicplan4 ай бұрын
Hi! magicplan works well even in spaces that aren't completely empty. If there’s furniture in the room, the app can still accurately capture the space, although it's ideal if larger objects aren't blocking the walls. If you're using the LiDAR Auto-Scan feature on iOS, it’s particularly effective at scanning both the room and the furniture at once. For more details on how it works, you can check out this article from our Help Center: help.magicplan.app/auto-scan-your-floor-plan - Silvia

Does this work on Subfloor without walls. Looking to scan a floor without walls to design the rooms? Also can you use Samsung 22 or androids or must it be Apple product with lidar
@magicplan7 ай бұрын
Hi there, you need a floor in order to scan the room. 🙂 If you want to use LiDAR scanning, you need an iOS (Apple) device because there are no Android devices with LiDAR technology built-in for now. To use the manual scan is enough to have an iPhone 12 Pro or newer. For the LiDAR Auto-Scan instead (the one you see here), you need iOS 17 and an Apple Pro device - Silvia from magicplan

Why no auto scan in Android?!! 😢
@magicplan4 ай бұрын
Hi @3jsjeosn! Thanks for reaching out. Currently, the Auto-Scan feature that uses LiDAR is only available on iOS because LiDAR sensors haven’t been implemented on Android devices yet. This is something on Google’s end, as they haven’t integrated LiDAR technology into Android hardware. That said, you can still create accurate floor plans on Android with magicplan! You can manually draw the layout in the app and use a Bluetooth laser meter for precise measurements. It’s a reliable alternative until similar scanning features become available on Android devices. If you have any other questions or need assistance, feel free to contact our support team at support@magicplan.app. We’re here to help! ✌
