Rashad: that deck Owen is playing is called "Storm".
@RogueCulture10 жыл бұрын
It takes seven and a half minutes for Rashad to notice that Yamamoto has Green in his deck.

Pretty sure Owen punted that first game. I would have jammed the Electromancer or Ascension after missing my third land drop for the second time. You know he has the Spell Snare and that he's going to sit on it all game until you move in on something good, so why let him get to a point where he also has a clock going? Play your spell, get it countered, and move on. If Yamamoto doesn't have another interaction spell then he's probably cold in 1-3 turns.
@xksellersx10 жыл бұрын
Owen does not punt.

Well, whatever it was that he did didn't pan out, did it?

I wonder how different local play would be if you got to go through your opponents deck and sideboard before playing
@Drecon8410 жыл бұрын
This kind of got me thinking. Seems like Jeskai Ascention and Pyromancer Ascention might well go in the same deck...

I dont think rashad did that bad, but "He has 11 cards, he may need to discard." WTF

@ensabahnur755710 жыл бұрын
OMG! Wizards, this is the Worlds! Cmon! You got a lot of able personnels there who knows how to "intelligently" call the games other than rashad. Please, stop with your nostalgic reasons and just put rashad on the floor, not on the commentary booth.

modern a.k.a. who will deal about 6 damage to their opponent first because they do the rest to themselves
@thedarklight67529 жыл бұрын
I can understand why they banned treasure cruise its just so easy to cast and provides the player a huge advantage dig through time would have been cool in modern
@thedarklight67529 жыл бұрын
I think it impacted legacy the most you could easily cast it by turn 3 and get so much value off of it
@keatonkuuuun9 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Krug The main problem is that it just gives too much value to the point where nearly every deck but one in the top 8 uses it. When that happens, Wizards usually just bans the crap outta the card for a while lol.
@thedarklight67529 жыл бұрын
DO you think it was most broken in storm because you are practically casting ancestral recall?
@keatonkuuuun9 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Krug well yeah that's practically what it is after about turn 4 or 5

Why did Owen go probe then serum visions? doesn't make sense when you can see if you can scry something to the top you want or save the probe for later if there isn't anything on the top of your deck that you'd want.

It was. However both Birthing Pod and Treasure cruise have since been banned in modern, so it isn't really a relevant point.

Yes, Rashad is my main complaint in life. Cancer, war, world hunger... NOPE: Rashad, the Magic the Gathering commentator. Oh wait, maybe I should go over to the Ari Lax videos and make sure to flub how hoorribble of a person he is, even though he did nothing wrong and won a pro tour. You know what? You guys don't like Rashad for his hat do you? I love the people complaining about magic players/commentators... You might as well complain about a burnt hot pocket. But hey, I just took a paragraph to complain about your complaints.

1:18:20 pretty sure Chapin missed lethal. Two Serum Visions, Charm, Cruise, Thought Scour. 5 spells, Swiftspears were 6/7's.
@kevinkim34799 жыл бұрын
+Richard Davis he had 1 pyro + 2 tokens and 1 swiftspear in the start of the turn. He cast Visions -> Visions -> Swiftspear -> Izzet Charm -> Cruise -> Thought Scour. The second swiftspear was a 4/5 since it only saw 3 spells.
@richarddavis31109 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Kim Ah, good call. My mistake for thinking that I could catch something that Chapin doesn't lol
@DestoRest10 жыл бұрын
Just a little bit of constructive criticism; I think it would be a bright idea to commentate like your speaking to an audience that has absolutely no clue what is going on whatsoever. I say this because most people truly DON'T have a clue what is going on in MTG. Therefor I believe the game would grow if people felt like they could follow along a little more.
@zoomsmash10 жыл бұрын
Thats what standard is for.

Ian Starkey I agree - also because as third hand spectators (the people playing the game see the cards directly. The commentators see the cards on a screen where they can read them/look up info. We see the extra info the commentators may or may not show on a screen of a screen of two guys looking at cards), it's overly difficult to look at the table and see what the hell is going on, much less just listen to the coverage and know what's happening. You dont have World Cup commentators talking about a game of cricket they played in their neighbor's yard in 1993, making sad puns in the heat of the match, and hand-waving the rule guidelines in their commentary. Little bit of a vent, but I hate seeing the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP be half-assed.
@DestoRest10 жыл бұрын
I'm totally unbiased but as far as people rooting for or against Rashad as a commentator. As a commentator, he is horrible. "Also...ugh...Also...ok so also...little uhh...a a a...little uhh unorthodox..."
@TheDarleth10 жыл бұрын
wizards needs to fire rashad miller, worst commentator in magic history. painful to listen to someone with so little magic knowledge commentating the world championships.

Patrick Chapin doesn't play for a living does he? Do any of these guys? I mean it's cool when your a teen and you make 131,000 dollars in career earnings but I don't know about being in your upper 30's. Hopefully he can get a job or has a job with magic themselves. I hope so man and wish him the best because otherwise....what a massive, massive, waste of time. Good luck though!

I personally hate the way Chapin plays. He has to waste time to straighten up his shit EVERY time. If it was like once or twice every other turn, thats fine. But he does it every time he plays a spell, or looks at his hand, or does anything. It seriously wastes time.
