Well 1:30 for a single game action is a bit much, especially for a professional player of Turtenwald's caliber. Seems he gets a bit more leeway in regards to his slow play

I guess I'm in the minority, but I love Bant company. I'm not a fan of Timmy cards like Emrakul being good. Those should stay on the kitchen table imo. But people do tend to oppose whatever is on top.
@sashaanne703
@sashaanne703 8 жыл бұрын
I happen to not completely agree about Emrakul being purely a Timmy card. Yes, it is a giant flying trampler, but Wizards did a great job of pushing it in such a way that it is also a good Spike card. Heck, I can even see it being a Johnny card as well. I also must complement them in having a lot of the story cards (Dragonlords, Kozilek's Return, and Fall of the Titans come to mind) being also competitive-relevant. If you prefer small, efficient creatures, that's fine, but that is far from the only way to enjoy - or even be competitive in - Magic.
@dustinseth9520
@dustinseth9520 8 жыл бұрын
I guess any card that is good is spikey in some sense, but big, flashy creatures are the archetypal Timmy cards. And yeah, I was just talking about my preferences. As I said, I think I'm in the minority. For my own sake though I hope the meta evolves such that it's only playable in like one deck :p

I'm more of a "Anything can work if you try hard enough to make it work" kinda guy and I actually enjoyed using Emrakul in Temur Emerge even though I'm more of a (blue) Control player. Now that UW seems to be back with Kaladesh Temur Emerge still looks like a viable and fun strategy.

What if as an additional rule you would completely control your opponents turn with Emrakul, even his shuffle of his deck when cracking a fetch and then presenting the deck to yourself. That way you could "mana weave" your opponents library to a terrible order. I mean it says "you gain control of target opponent" and part of a players duties is to shuffle his deck, properly sure, but if the deck you present is fine to your opponent it does count as properly shuffled, right?
@connornance3073
@connornance3073 8 жыл бұрын
That will undoubtedly never happen. In terms of "controlling players' turns", it only regards the strategic decisions that they can make. This is why you're no longer allowed to look at your opponent's sideboard during this time. And in that case, rigging your opponent's deck to lose would really make the Promised End better than the Aeons Torn, and that's completely irrational.
@ValanceJ
@ValanceJ 8 жыл бұрын
Well as soon as you make that a rule, it pretty much means that stacking your deck entirely when you're shuffling would be legal then. After all, whenever you control a player you can't do stuff like make them concede or make any illegal actions.

@lynmar
@lynmar 8 жыл бұрын
because it is bad. showing one instance that it was good in doesnt make a card any better.
@PalPlays
@PalPlays 8 жыл бұрын
Brandon Jones It really isn't. Imagine the amount of damage one could do with it in a modern environment where you can have your opponent Bolt + Snapcaster + Bolt + Path on themselves. Or imagine forcing your opponent to Scapeshift themselves down to 2 health. In modern, you could easily cast this around turn 4-5 (by running dredge or ramp).
@lynmar
@lynmar 8 жыл бұрын
Well talking in a modern aspect, it isnt horrible, but still isnt great. Big emrakul is still way better in every aspect. I wouldnt expect seeing it in any top modern decks anytime soon. It doesnt do what you want it to in that format
@PalPlays
@PalPlays 8 жыл бұрын
Brandon Jones I don't even think that that's true. In modern, you simply CAN'T bring big Emrakul out efficiently without having to cheat her out (eg Nahiri). Cheating her out makes you miss the cast trigger, and there are a finite amount of ways to do so in the first place. Hardcasting her is too difficult to justify not just running Kozilek or Ulamog as the wincon. Emrakul, the Promised End, on the other hand, can be cast for as low as five mana (all eight card types, though that'll never happen), and is a 7 drop most of the time (lower than any other Eldrazi titan). Not only that, but she has protection from most removal that has become staple in modern (Path, obviously Bolt, Anguished Unmaking, Abrupt Decay), and her cast trigger does exactly what you'd want it to do in every matchup (no deck in modern can handle being sabotaged like that). Even if she's Mana Leaked, that 6-8 mana is made worth simply by fizzling everything in your opponent's hand and making bad attacks. Honestly? She was made with modern in mind, and there will be quite a few decks running her in the future.
@lynmar
@lynmar 8 жыл бұрын
PalPlays You have a good point, but i guarantee that it wont see as much play as you think, and it certaintly wont be winning a modern open or anything. Theres just way to much graveyard hate in modern for you to be able to cast it early

That's bs that Owen under paid for Emarakul twice, Luis should have been in the finals. The judges need to butt in when someone makes a mistake that falsely puts them in the finals. He got 2 warnings at the end of game 4 he should have already been disqualified. I like Owen as a player but LSV should have been in the finals!!!
