It is a game after all, and frankly ... we knew these things would happen the immediate moment we get to see the card reveals One can call it rushed sure ... but then one has never actually looked at magic cards during reveal season before "Oh, who is this mysterious entity on Innistrad?" "Emrakul, I mean we knew this was likely what the fate of Innistrad was gonna be when Innistrad revealed itself as a plane the first time around but its nice that all of these 'clues' weren't so much clues as much as a game mechanic since you know, we knew from the other cards immediately what happened with Emrakul" You can extrapolate this to literally 'all' of MTG's storylines - the only difference is that we have had years worth of buildup ever since the defeat of Nicol Bolas, and we got confirmation about this once we saw Vorinclex on Kaldheim ... its hardly been rushed if you go back and actually look at the stuff that built up towards it

While the actual story depicts him chopped into fours, the card has him just left limbless, but alive. If anything, that could mean he's the last living praetor, albeit trapped within a phased out new phyrexia.

Urabrask at least had some part in the story, poor Vorinclex got one of his horns ripped off by Norn and only managed to kill Teferi's mount before getting beheaded, and that was pretty much it. He was MTG's version of Black Dwarf, the big guy of Thanos' black order(or Cull Obsidian, for those who only know him from the movies).

Well, Lukka dies. Wrenn dies. Karn gives up Venser's spark. Atraxa dies. Tibalt died last set. Tamiyo becomes a force-ghost. Meliria dies. Nahiri is buried under a bunch of rocks on Zendikar. All the praetors die. Millions across several planes die. Vraska and Jace are still both MIA and dealing with the fallout of phyresis/compleation. It beats War of the Spark, but, yes, I was hoping that this would be the end of one of the Lorwyn 5 (or even at least Nissa). Not quite the reset button I was hoping for, but let's be honest--the first time that Phyrexia invaded they were beaten because Urza shot Yawgmoth with a big laser beam. Teferi and Wrenn pulling a temporal inversion and Koth, Karn, and Elspeth kill and unmake Norn is absolutely a more satisfying conclusion, though the whole 'all the phyrexians shut off like robots and the oil is now useless!' aspect of it does feel like a cop-out. At least we're getting an aftermath set.

I dont know that Emmy could withstand the Phyrexians. We already know her abilities have no effect on the undead... and for all we know, 1 drop of oil would be enough to convert her. I think it would be far more likely that we would have gotten a completed Eldrazi had they interacted.

They're already nigh invulnerable to every thing, and as it stands what you see of the titans isn't their true selves. The physical thing you see is just a representation of themselves in this world while their true self is in the blind eternities. But you could probably compleat the drones and other lesser Eldrazi.

@@tonysmith9905 The Eldrazi are chumps compared to the Phyrexians ;) Think about it... how many wins do they have? How many planeswalkers have they killed? zero and zero... Now compare that to the Phyrexians... who have only ever lost once (at the cost of pretty much every hero's life)... and have killed like 20+ walkers, many of which were pre mending walkers. Sure, there is room for showing us some insane power behind the Eldrazi in the void.. but that potential exists for Phyraxians as well. There is no way to know just how many worlds they have just infected.. and what new deadly tactics they may have developed. If it came down to a trapped Emmy vs the entirety of the Phyrexian horde with time to plan their attack on Emmy, my money is all in on the Phyrexians. They have always been the one true threat to the multiverse.

I'm not sure what the deal is with people complaining about the lore of the set. The stories are pretty amazing. Teferi finds and restores Zalfir. Karn sacrifices his spark to save his friends and redeems himself for the actions he thought were his fault, that transformed Mirrodin. Teferi spares Ajani and because of what seemed to be the time mage's weakness, the big kitteh is no longer Phyrexian. Chandra doesn't give up on Nissa and because of her optimism the elf is no longer Phyrexian. Melira sacrifices herself to restore the two surviving compleated planeswalkers. Serra turns out to be alive and well and upgrades Elspeth into an archangel form. Lukka gets pwned by a giant elemental cat dinosaur... and that doesn't even cover half of the story.

The highs were so high indeed ✨ But the lows... Could have been avoided in my humble opinion. Some scenes the writer of the main plot (K. Arsenault Rivera ✨) narrated were so uninspired... I feel she would have written diferently if the executive board allowed. Again my immersion in the story was disrupted for some choices that came directly from them, I think... But again, the highs were just breathtaking 😍 Zhalfir is finally back 🥺🥺 and everything related to Wrenn and Elspeth made my month 🌟🔥... The praetors depictions in the other hand... 🤡 were kinda goofy 😐

I'm shocked that I haven't seen a single comment on this video complaining that "I can't enjoy this set because wotc releases too much product". So tired of hearing that complaint. Just because there's more magic products than ever doesn't mean that a lot of them aren't good or worth it. The game is alive and well and you don't need to buy cards from every single set to enjoy it 👌 (I understand that if you play competitively that you might need to hop on new staples, but even then not every new set introduces format defining staples) This set looks great, the flavour and lore are sick, and I for one am pumped to see the culmination of the Phyrexian's plans for multiversal domination.

Here's an Idea, lol. Proior Engagement. Red - Draw/ Thassa Oracal Like/ Instant. ( 0 ) If you would draw a card while your library has no cards in it, you do not lose the game. Instead put each card in your graveyard on top of your library in a random order, and discard your hand. Draw 2 cards. Shuffle this card into your Library, when you next draw this card, you win the game.

How does it make sense for Melira to die for Ajani... of all Phyrexianized characters!? It's not like Ajani is useful.. Better to fix Tamiyo that probably has some Eldrazi storytelling to do. Also, Phyrexians just failing for no good reason has got to be one of the WORST stories Wizards could write.. but anything they've made has been terrible anyway.

Its anticlimactic really. The killer of planes, the completer of planeswalkers, dies to one sword swipe. From an angle nevertheless (if you know some lore, angles and demons cant be planeswalkers, but here we are). Love the set and phyrexians, just don't love the execution of a possible godly story and set(s).

This showcase was kinda lackluster for the huge climax it's supposed to be. The cards and art are great but I miss the cool sets and talking with the directors of the set. They also didn't explain any of the mechanics. It was just weird

they explained that battles are like when planeswalkers were first introduced, though when you cast it, you pick an enemy to defend it. (they take any damage sent at them, and can be combat targets)

sorry for my english i am not very good. 😢 however I wanted to leave a message hoping MTG would see it. I'm so over the turn the story is taking. i find it too easy to settle the war by letting elspeth kill elesh norn so easily. in addition I find the card mediocre compared to what is realized in history. it's only my opinion but I think it was rushed after so much hype and waiting, to end so easily it frustrates me. we don't get the impression that elesh norn was really one of the greatest enemies of the multiverse. for war of the spark the attack of bolas was much more impressive than this one. I'm one of those who wanted to see the Phyrexians win because I love them, but I completely understand that they couldn't win. but it's so easy to kill the one who put 4 extensions to invade the multivert, planned the attack of 10 planeswalkers, corrupt half of them for her plans, with an incredible army and even with some discord between them, 3 preators (even if sheoldred and jin jitaxia are not really his allies, it's not impossible that they agree to invade from another plane) plus 5 dominus at the head of his army without counting atraaxa. finally here is a death too easy, too predictable which broke all my hype that you had so excellently placed its last 4-5 extensions.😢😢
