I actually suspect it has to do with Tezzeret. The other 3 planeswalkers that got rid of their compleation all had a metal-mage involved who removed their metal parts, and since we're pretty sure neither Nahiri nor Karn (or Koth or Saheeli) met with Jace and Vraska, it leaves Tezzeret the only option of someone who could remove their Phyrexian parts and make them normal, forcing them to work with Tezzeret's new Infinite Consortium, which is likely the big plot coming up since we know Arcavios (suspiciously where Liliana is) will be the penultimate set and the Fomori being the "Coin Empire" suggests that we're not getting the Chain Veil story yet, so the Infinite Consortium story set up after Phyrexia All Will Be One fits as the big finale to this story, especially since Tezzeret knows about making the Planar Bridge and stuff which could explain how Vraska went with Jace to another plane.

​@@halozoo2436Jace is still very much phyrexian physically. Annie Flash can see through illusions, and when Jace revealed he wasn't Ashiok, Annie stated he was STILL hiding behind an illusion and commented on his metal and ports.

Plus, Vraska is 100% not a Phyrexian and not under an illusion, so someone had to fix her body, and I highly suspect that Jace is free of Phyrexian influence too, he just hasn't had the parts fully removed yet.

Also, omen paths and the desparking of like half the planes walkers is the aftermath of the phyrexian arc. There are consequences, just not more phyrexian sets

Are you unfamiliar with pre-Time Spiral Magic story? Planar portals used to be extremely common, and the Mending removed them all. Omen paths allow them to flesh out characters without relying on returns to their planes, and allows them to not have everyone be a planeswalker to be relevant.

@@Mordalon It's not necessarily the wild west theme that I hate, I can picture a version of this world I would actually like. It's the Saturday morning cartoon wild west theme that I hate. I'm having a hard time connecting the silly aesthetic and the over reliance on real world references in recent sets with the serious and dark sci-fi fantasy aesthetic which Magic always was and should be. To me it's obvious this set originated from a group of creatively bankrupt zoomer/millennial hires who couldn't devise an original world and had to resort to meme references and TV shows they remember from their childhood.

@@eadumm It's not "copy/paste", especially when there have been many other, highly well received settings with just as overt references to popculture tropes. Innistrad was lousy with that stuff. And there's lots of references that aren't from movies, but from actual folklore and history, you're just exposed to them via movies. It's like the people that saw Eldraine and associated it with Disney rather than the actual stories they are based on.

As a lover of old west stuff / movies I was super stoked to see an old west themed set. Enough that I resisted the temptation of the Fallout sets in favor of Thunder Junction. Now, I knew it couldn't be strait up old west / spaghetti western cards for obvious reasons but I kind of expected a bit more old west. LOR, Warhammer 40k and Fallout were pretty true to theme and Bloomburrow looks extremely true to theme as well so I was pretty excited to see how this turned out. As more was released or leaked my excitement faltered. Like I said, I knew it wouldn't be strait old west but I definitely expected more old west not old west heavily watered down with steampunk, anime, sci-fi and fantasy. Not sure I'm putting my wallet away yet but Fallout is suddenly looking a lot more appealing...

I could be pointing fingers in the wrong direction and if so i apologize, however I feel like if creative worked a bit more on OTJ or if they were given better direction with all original characters to build upon with little bits of inspiration taken from other IP's and history itself OTJ could have been a cool and interesting block. Like imagine a saloon owner/or better yet a parlor house owner similar to Moxie from borderlands. We could of had two legendary families with bad blood that duked it out and only 1 or 2 survive like the Hatfields and mcCoys. I guess i was just hoping for a sexy and gritty story

lately sets are the same set of characters over and over again but in different clothes. it would be fine if it was a small cast with bacground characters from new setting. it would be easier to bridge the story between sets with only few of them. but it seems like we get dozens of them and no background original plane denizens. slapdash rationale why everyone apears in the same place and time in coordinated manner does not help. initially i thought we will have that handful we were shown on a new plane and was excited but this is not what i will get it seems.
