As a 6a climber the context of Adam climbing with Magnus is fascinating. I've only seen someone do a 7c+ in person once where I could feel the holds myself to appreciate how insane that level really is. I feel like the Olympics needs content like this to help people at home comprehend the beauty of the sport. Until you have something to calibrate against, all grades above 7a seem equally impossible and it's hard to appreciate the absurdity of elite climbers.
@chrismuller37783 жыл бұрын
Exactly! I always thought magnus boulder problems didnt look that difficult and I could possibly climb a 8a but holy shit - I tried climbing a 6c and it really destroyed my illusion.
@littletyke763 жыл бұрын
I mean I think they get the drift... most people understand that if they try a marathon they aren't going to be going for 2 hour pace or do 100m in 10 seconds or less. Most people at home watching the olympics probably couldn't hang from a bar for a minute. Climbing is already growing as you can see with the inclusion into the olympics and that will be more than enough to get some kids/adults interested and they can find out for themselves. So unless the olympics added a section where they pick random person from the crowd for every event I don't see how it's applicable :D Would be fun though

enjoying everything about this whole series with Ondra, the banter, the learning, the jokes. His level of objectivity and self awareness is astounding.. though it surprised & concerned me to find out that modern bouldering was harming his body long term... and yet he is choosing to compete for the sake of Olympics.

Adam is amazing. Such a humble and down to earth dude. Watching two great climbers just chill out makes me love climbing even more. Kudos to making this

Yea, but he is a very very bad belayer 😮 the way he take the Grigri is horrible

This is probably my 3rd or 4th time watching this video! Amazing balance between fun and cheerful conversation, powerful climbing, and serious questions!
@paulelderson9343 жыл бұрын
This is such an insight into top-level climbing and into Adam Ondra as well. It's cool to see that in climbing, even going climbing with arguably the best climber in the world, it still seems like two friends going camping together and just climbing a bit on the side, having fun. I love the sport, but I love the mentality of the climbers even more.

I rarely comment, but this video was so damn good. 49 minutes felt like 15! You both harmonize so well together, cannot wait for the other videos.

Absolutely loved this one!!! One of your best videos in my opinion, You show Adam and yourself in a very genuine human way! I very much like your easy going style in asking some tough and personal questions.

I found your channel by chance. To me (I never climbed at all) It's both impressive and inspiring to see you climb and talk about it so calmly. In this video I only miss a perspective that shows the whole wall while you're already half way up or higher; it would give us a better impression of how high the wall actually is. Keep up the good work!

Waw, this one was extra special. I can see what you're doing Magnus: having fun in the first 2 episodes, making us daydream 'what if he asked proper questions', and in the 3rd you do! Clever you. So thanks, it was great to hear all this from the man.

When asking Adam if he was good at any other sports, I think Magnus was trying to recruit him for Ninja Warrior...

Magnus you showed us Adam Ondra that we have never seen in videos from his channel, I think you have a gift of asking the "right" questions and questions that we all would like to ask, being yourself a climbing addict you are a great partner for Adam in climbing or conversation. My thoughts after watching this video are that I would like to hear you as a commentator for climbing events such as world cup ! keep up the good work !

I love listening to both of your perspectives on hard routes . It makes me feel good that encouraging people to be their best and loving the art is more important than one’s ego . I enjoy everything you put out there keep it up

I have to say, this is probably the best climbing video I've ever seen on KZbin. It felt like a day of the crag that any average climber could relate to, combined with really honest, in-depth conversation about the current state of climbing at the highest level. Amazing video, Magnus!

Best video I have seen on this channel by far! The conversations are so interesting and the climbing is amazing. Also great to see you two on somthing 'easy' in the beginning.

As someone who is into climbing, and not really into the "military fitness clickbait videos", this is legit some of the best content I've seen on youtube. It might not get as many views as some of your other stuff, but I really appreciate you doing this for your 1M special.

Is it really clickbait if it delivers exactly what was proposed in the title/thumbnail? I though they have to be misleading to earn that.

I so much love the variety of climbing content on this Channel! From ninja wartiors to hard core projecting of a 9a with Adam Ondra. So awesome to watch, especially because they really seem to have a good time doing it! Been watching this channel for almost 7 years now and I still really like the vibe!

Waiting on the comments on how Adam belayed in this video.. I won't judge anyone in this video for anything they do when they are by themselves, but showing it to such a great audience always introduces some amount of responsibility for what's shown. And for all other "worldly" climbers, it is dangerous to get used to "improper" belaying technique.
@ianpayne93453 жыл бұрын
Watch hard is easy’s video to see why this is dangerous for all belaying no matter the experience level

Incredible. I didn't check the length of the video and I just stared watching it. At 22 minutes I had to pause and I was annoyed that I had to do it right after 5 minutes into the video. Then I realised it was actually 22, crazy. It shows how enjoyable this video is, amazing work Magnus!

While the hardcore climbing was nice, what really made this video great for me was you two talking about climbing. You should start doing podcasts with climbers as guests like once a month.

I feel this worked so good because they did it while climbing. Having the same discussion online would not make the climbers open up.

Too bad his belay technique at 5:10 is horrible. Holding your hand over the handle/camming part of the GriGri while not holding the dead end is a recipe for disaster.

@@Oscar-if6lq agreed. And at 22:25 - always hold the dead rope. Magnus would drop if he tried again suddenly and fell.
