@@S0ulinth3machin3 I think it’s about getting to the top of your game. In any sport the best are the ones just trying to be better than they were yesterday. Even in combat sports, the guys are almost always positive with each other outside the ring, or off the mat. High level combatants in say, MMA or Boxing, need each other to push each other to get better. If you’re super aggressive about it, no one wants to play with you anymore. I was a pretty decent HEMA fighter, I was one of the instructors in our group. We had a guy who just took the whole thing too seriously. I didn’t like to spar with him, because I didn’t trust him not to injure me. That also meant that if I matched his energy, I would be at risk of hurting him also. Sucked all the fun out of sparring. A real shame, too. He was a wrestler in school, and his grappling was fantastic! I hope he mellowed out! 😂

Hey Magnus. My son (12 years old) and I just discovered you a month or so ago. And we just switched (one day ago) from our regular gym to the local climbing gym in our little town. Our first night there, we heard someone say, “Let’s do the Magnus route…” You are influencing people in Chico, California. Don’t let the popularity change you. Been watching Magnus for years and as someone that competed in tennis, likes basketball and football as well there is really not content like these in those other sports. In tennis , you never get to see this hang out, chill, test, fun type of test of skills. In football footballers are too famous to access to them and if someone access to them is 2 min of a crossbar challenge and you don't get to have a glimpse of what is like to be a real Madrid player, a bayern player. And also on basketball I guess the closest is those scrimmages videos that they play but ist not as you hang out with Curry and have 20 min of footage of him shooting 3s or messing around with floaters. Like yes, there is content similar to that but what this channel or Adam's does is just to bring such a high level of atletiscism to your " reach" is soooo inspiring. Thank you so much Magnus.

I have a good bench, deadlift, squat etc. But, I got my arse well and truly kicked by V1's an 2's the first time I ever went climbing. Falling like a new born deer even when trying to stand on massive jugs. These guys maintain a stupidly high level of strength for an even more ridiculous length of time, consistently. I don’t climb but after watching a ton of Magnus vids, his style is best described as powerful fluidity. It’s what sets him apart from even the best technical or free solo climbers. Magnus has a consistent fluidity in his movements. Weirdly it reminds me of like a parkour flow state…

I'm with you about the fun in climbing, getting better and being able to climb more impressive lines. Climbing passages on the rock where you have to find the one possible combination is the best. But there are also easier routes with specific requirements and there are destinations with beautiful easier routes. The elbsandstone for example has really beautiful easy lines. You just have to search more for them. You can't just go to a crack and climb the most beautiful line because it might be above your limit. Right now it's hard for me because my current level is 2 grades lower than it has been, but there is still joy in climbing for me.
