@Mack98421 Жыл бұрын
The biggest guys in the world disagree with you, they have trouble getting grip on grip strength training where smaller hands can grasp things more easily. Big hand size helps for pressing wayyyy more than gripping. In fact it's probably a negative to have big hands for grip strength alone. If you watch arm wrestling the biggest guys (i.e. Levan and Devon) focus very little, or zero, on grip because they can never outgrip the opponent they always use their arms and not their hands to win, Devon will even purposefully wipe sweat all over his hand so the other guy can't grip him.
@grischad209 ай бұрын
@@Mack98421 dude, the unliftable dumbells are unliftable precisely because the handle is so thick. it helps tremendously to be able to increase the contact surface between your hands and the object you try to lift to increase friction, that's simple physics. and as you said, arm wrestling has nothing to do with gripping, so why do you bring it into the conversation?

Here’s something that can change your way of life or thinking. This is the most important thing you will hear/read today. If you’ve told one lie, stolen anything, or lusted (which is adultery of the heart), you’ll be found guilty on Judgment Day and end up in Hell. But there’s good news: Though we broke God’s Law, Jesus, the prophesied Messiah, perfectly kept the Law, fulfilling all righteousness. He paid the fine for sinners ( that we could never pay ) by suffering and dying on the cross-absorbing the wrath of God that we deserve. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Then Jesus rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds of eyewitnesses. Today, repent and trust Jesus; God will grant you forgiveness and the gift of eternal life. God bless

I could watch these two collab again and again and again. Love seeing Odd again as someone I always remember watching in Worlds Strongest Man when I was younger. I feel like I need to raise my game as I am hitting 50 this year.

There was a gentleman being seen as a patient in a hospital I was working in. In his 90s, walked in straight and tall. No hunch, didn't appear to hurt or anything. WWII veteran. Sharp as a tack. Had the largest hands I've ever seen on a man. He was probably about 6' tall, similar to myself, but he had silverback gorilla mitts. Looked like Odds here. It's super inspiring to see older gents getting down still. My old man is in the best shape of his life, can whip me on a pull-up bar or just about anything in the gym still, and he's nearing 60. His biggest limitation is max HR goes with age as well, so he the cardio intensity training is a little different, but frankly just seems like his body just became more efficient. He's a mental cyclist. He and another gent his age have a silent war going on for fastest time on a local loop, it's gotten completely absurd to the point that no one in ANY age group is even close (or probably cares/has time to dedicate to fitness for the younger child raising guys). I just hope to stay away from injuries. I want to sleep well, and move without pain at that age.

I just hope to sleep well and move without pain at THIS age, let alone my old age 😂 and I'm not even 30 yet 😭 poor mental health and a chronic back injury have taken their toll lol. Ah well, gotta stay positive and do what I can to heal.

Magnus just inspired me to take up climbing. I come from swimming but a right shoulder injury means I can no longer swim without discomfort in spite of therapy, personal training and modifying techniques. But even at the age of 35 I still wanna be stronger and fitter, I watched Magnus's videos and gave top rope and bouldering a try. To my utter surprise, it does wonders to alleviate my type of shoulder injury. This video just convinced me more, the strength you get from climbing is very transferrable to real, everyday strength without the risk of bulking which is something undesirable for me. Still miss short course swimming a lot but ready to invest at least a couple of years to give climbing a chance.

Look up comfrey root salves for your shoulder. You can also combine it with black seed oil then wrap your shoulder with plastic.... 👍

Great video Magnus. I am really impressed with the quality of your videos lately, from the small animations in the text bubbles, to the accurate subtitles. And its great seeing you and Juji together again :) Thanks for the great content!

This is so inspiring. I'm in my upper thirties, have just started truly getting into fitness and feeling like I'm able to improve slowly but consistently, but also wondering if I'm too old and late to become really good. Then I go and see this, and all I'm thinking is - yea, I'm gonna keep learning, studying, take care of my diet and push myself slowly but steadily in my routine, because obviously it's worth it. Thanks for this!

Low-key, this probably the most impressive athlete i've seen on this channel so far. 71 and breaking world records? WHAT?!

I love your videos Magnus, because of the athleticism, what you choose to do, where you choose to go, and your guests ....but mostly because of the attitude. Positive vibes! This is the way.

I am just a few months younger than Odd. In at least one lift I am still getting stronger. It is the seated behind the back tricep extension. Years ago I did reps with 90 pounds. Last week I did 7 reps with 110 pounds. I weigh 170 pounds. How about a like for us seniors like Odd?

Recent studies have shown that grip strength is a strong predictor of longevity. It will be interesting to see how long this guy lives. He’s 73 and functioning better than most 30 or 40 year olds. Really impressive
@autarko Жыл бұрын
If that's the case then Odd should live to about 300 years old.

I could be wrong but I think it’s because grip strength is an easily-measured and decent proxy for overall body strength.
