Nice to see a young guy with such a good leading techniques and i love the fact you tried to fuse some musicality into the leading in such a fun way. Thank you for the quick reply. I wouldn't be surprised if you're surprised ;) hehe because it has been a lot of years since salsa was introduced here but still it hasn't grown yet. No clear style of dancing, poor sense of musicality and choice of musics. It has been a couple of years since i brought salsa into my life and i was able to see these huge gaps and with a few friends of mine we decided to be better in every aspect of the art, and it is a great inspiration to hear a word from one of the best dancers in the world. He is dancing on1. Is there a move in Europe to dance on2? Which is danced more? There is a move here in the US to move to on2. I see no advantage in either. However, it has caused a split in the dance community. There are Congresses that even give the title "Congress on2", thus separating the dance rather than bringing it together. Thanks

In Europe, you find a little bit of everything. At most congresses, you'll find dancers on1, on2, Cuban etc. Not sure which is more predominant because a dance congress is rarely representative of the local scene. As for the split, there isn't a difference in what you can execute but there is a difference in feeling when you dance on1 vs on2. I also wished that it wasn't a matter of splitting the community but rather just showing different ways to interpret the music. The best way to remedy this would be for each of us to not add to the separation. 😊

In Romania the first salsa was on 1 and then the old on2 comes to many dancing schools. Here we dance on 1 or on2 , as we want in that moment or at the song X.

I'm not primarily a salsa dancer, I mainly do Lindy Hop, but I've taken Salsa workshops and go on Salsa socials occasionally. Here in Germany, especially the South, I find mostly on1. I'm prepared to dance on either, though. And it's funny, sometimes during a song I might switch without thinking about it. Coming from Lindy Hop/Jazz, it's really not that big of a deal to me. It's just steps. The music and connection to your partner is all that matters.
