Happy to see ESL15 getting great feedback from you , both speakers can be very addictive due to the unique way of presenting sound .

You can't just say that vinyl is preferred over digital, because there are MANY flavors of digital. Streamed digital sucks, MP3 sucks, loud-mastered CDs suck. But audiophile-mastered SACDs and DSD/24-bit PCM files are a completely different story! Be careful about generalizing when pontificating over digital. It's all about the mastering, not the format.

I would disagree with having the same brand for all cables. I use Cardas Clear between my phonostage and pre-amp, but I use Transparent Ultra RCA between pre-amp and tube power amp, and Silversmith Audio Fidelium speaker cables between tube amp and treble section of speakers. When I demoed the Cardas Clear for phonostage, I preferred it to the Transparent (as I found it to be more rhythmic where I could hear into the cymbals). However, when I tried the Cardas between the pre-amp and power amp, I really did not like it at all. I originally started with a full loom of Transparent cables (which was very good overall). However, one can do better.

I think you did what Jay suggested - start with one brand (in your case Transparent) and only after, try tuning with different cables.

@@NEwan-wy3qu Jay seemed to suggest that we stick to only one brand, not simply start with one brand. Maybe, the statement was addressed to beginners, where more experienced people will understand the exceptions anyway. I originally started with Transparent back in 1997 for speaker cables. I liked it, so I just used Transparent for the rest of the system. It was the easy choice. However, when one wants to get the best possible sound, one needs to experiment.

I dont hear any disconnect when I run my ESL9s full range. Of course I use my subs for 110hz and below anyways but when I do play the ESLs full range aounds perfect to me. ML makes one of the best driver's out there for bass.

If you can get your hands on an old Meridian 508 CD player, you might be shocked how good that sounds. I had one and wish I’d never sold it. Give it a try, it might change your mind about digital.

With your amps, wires, power conditioning,... so improved and especially the addition of analog,... it's time to get some 30.7's. Get that same sit and listen enjoyment. Stop chasing that zingy "accuracy".

Jay, I'm very disappointed that you "Copped-Out" on choosing between Magnepan or Martin Logan. You danced around choosing one over the other like a ballerina. Come on, Jay. Everyone has their comparative preferences in all things high end audio, speakers, amps, cables, etc. Come on, buddy.

Having owned several pairs of each brand (plus Quad ESLs) I would say Jay nailed his description of the different sound flavors between the two panel technologies. If you’re a panel guy like I am, and hear every, EVERY box speaker still sounding like a box, then you will enjoy both Magnepan and Martin- Logan. No need to take sides.
