Preservative is needed with a water based product. I'm sure you know this but i would pin a comment so folks are aware if they want to make it. Great video!
@beautybooster_diy4848 Жыл бұрын
Indeed, preservatives play a crucial role in safeguarding the safety and durability of water-based skincare items. They prevent microbial growth, averting contamination, spoilage, skin issues, and extending the product's shelf life. It's worth noting that 3g of preservative is required for this specific product, as mentioned in the comments section. While it was included in the video with the essential oil, it was inadvertently accidently omitted from the written text. Please refer to the comments for clarification.

Hello. Question: if you have natural beeswax, do I still add 45g, same amount as you with white wax? TIA.
@beautybooster_diy48488 ай бұрын
Yes, you can generally substitute natural beeswax for white beeswax in most recipes without significantly affecting the outcome, especially if colour is not a crucial factor in the final product. Natural beeswax may impart a slightly different hue to your final product compared to white beeswax, but it typically won't alter the performance or properties of the recipe significantly.

@@downsify Just incorporate your own magnesium brine , keeping water amount consistent. Adjust recipe to maintain desired magnesium concentration and tweak texture for preferred consistency. The concentration of magnesium brine can significantly affect the outcome of the cream, especially when using a stronger strength. When replacing beeswax with emulsifying wax, do not use the same amount. E-wax is more efficient as an emulsifier, so you should use about half to two-thirds of the amount of beeswax required in the recipe. This adjustment ensures proper consistency and emulsification in your final product. Approx. 23g - 30g

Essential oils work as preservatives
@beautybooster_diy4848 Жыл бұрын
No, Essential oils are not reliable preservatives for water-based lotion creams. While they possess some antimicrobial properties, they aren't effective at preventing microbial growth in water-based formulations. These creams are prone to bacterial and fungal contamination, which can lead to spoilage and safety concerns. To ensure product stability and safety, it's crucial to use dedicated cosmetic preservatives specifically formulated to inhibit microbial growth. Relying solely on essential oils in water-based body creams is not recommended due to these limitations.

I'm suprised you got that consistency without an emulsifier. How long does it last without a preservative?
@beautybooster_diy484810 ай бұрын
While it may seem like there's no emulsifier, the beeswax in the recipe actually helps create a stable emulsion. As for the preservative, I added 3g wit the essential oils to ensure the longevity of the cream. Without a preservative, the shelf life might be significantly shorter, and the risk of microbial contamination could increase.

I prioritize providing accurate and tested recipes, and since I haven't perfected the specific blend you mentioned first, I hesitate to offer detailed advice. However, for experimentation, consider the following proportions based on 1000 ml oil: Arnica: 15-20% (start with 15% if skin sensitivity is a concern) Comfrey: 10-15% (due to potential pyrrolizidine alkaloids) Hemp: 15-20% Frankincense: 15-20% Calendula: 15-20% Remember to approach this carefully, Happy experimenting!

@beautybooster_diy48486 ай бұрын
It should be thick and cream in texture. A trace of water might indicate the need for a bit more emulsification or maybe you used to much water. Experimenting with slightly less water could help achieve that perfect creamy consistency without any traces.

@beautybooster_diy48488 ай бұрын
I whisked the mixture for about five minutes, alternating with intervals of cooling to allow it to solidify before whisking again. It's crucial to use precise measurements and good quality ingredients to ensure success. Many have followed these steps and achieved perfect results. The key is to let it cool between whisking, repeating the process until it reaches the desired consistency.

@beautybooster_diy48488 ай бұрын
@@loravanderwal3869You initially mentioned flakiness, but now you're experiencing water dripping, indicating possible emulsion mixing issues. - If your lotion is dripping water, it suggests improper emulsion mixing. Ensure thorough blending of oil and water phases until fully incorporated. Temperature control during mixing is crucial to prevent phase separation. Double-check your emulsification technique and follow precise formulation steps.

Carnauba or candelilla wax can replace beeswax in a my magnesium cream recipe, but consider their melting points and textures. Experiment with quantities to achieve the desired consistency and texture, as carnauba wax is harder, so you might use slightly less, while candelilla wax is softer, so you might use a bit more.

Can you remove the water and therefore not need a preservative? Thank you
@beautybooster_diy4848 Жыл бұрын
Removing both water and preservative from my formulation would significantly impact the cream. Without water, the consistency would become much thicker, making it less spreadable and potentially affecting its absorption into the skin. The absence of a preservative increases the risk of microbial contamination, reducing the shelf life. The water plays a crucial role in maintaining the desired consistency, stability, and effectiveness of my emulsion, ensuring proper absorption and preventing potential issues such as separation. Hope that helps. Thank you.

Well when your getting ready to apply it if it was made without water couldn't you just apply it while your wet out of the shower? That way your not having to use the preservatives and the water from your body will help it blend into the skin better~ Just a thought 😊
@beautybooster_diy4848 Жыл бұрын
@@Fikishut Applying the magnesium cream recipe while wet after a shower may provide some moisture for blending, but it won't replace the need for a preservative. Preservatives are essential to prevent bacterial or fungal growth in oil-based products, ensuring safety and extending shelf life. Even with water from your body, the risk of contamination remains. It's best to use a suitable preservative to maintain the product's integrity and ensure it remains safe for use.

Who’s breathing in the background like that? 😂 but anyway, did you put any emulsifiers in it to be able to mix water with oils? Idk if it was skipped or did I miss it?
@beautybooster_diy48488 ай бұрын
I used Beeswax. Beeswax isn't a traditional emulsifier, but it aids stability in creams like my magnesium cream. Its hydrophobic nature helps blend water and oil phases by forming a protective barrier around oil droplets, preventing separation. While not a classic emulsifier, beeswax contributes to cream stability, also beeswax is beneficial for skin, forming a breathable barrier. It allows skin to breathe while providing protection and moisture, enhancing skin health.

It's possible you made an error in the process. The magnesium flakes should have been thoroughly dissolved before blending with the other ingredients.
