The fact that people take the time for comments about double boilers when you’re doing us ALL an incredible favor of sharing your recipe (and you don’t have to) its just absolutely mind blowing. Please people take the time to be kind. Thank you Ellen! You rock! May God Bless you and yours and thank you for sharing! ❤️

I'm sorry you feel the person who corrected her on the double boiler blew your mind. I do not feel the same and here is why. People, young and old, use KZbin not only as a tutorial but to learn something new and something they want to know more about. Not everyone knows what a double boiler is and how a double boiler works. When creators are teaching how to do something such as a recipe, they also need to explain the equipment being used. She was not using a double boiler and yet she called it a double boiler. When you go on the idea no one knows or has ever seen the equipment being used in order to make a recipe, calling something a double boiler when it is not, is not being accountable for what they are teaching.

Now this comment is for those of us who actually do read the comments. Thank you for taking the time. I have learned so much from people like you who leave tips and suggestions. So here’s my two cents…. I have a formula that is (almost) exactly like Ellen’s. I made this deodorant a month ago, so I have had time to decide if it is worth making again. The answer, Yes! Yes it is!! Three things to note here. I had used an aluminum free deodorant for years that was free of parabens, dyes & talc and I thought I was using a natural deodorant. I was not. Three or four days after using this all natural deodorant, my armpits broke out. I went thru a detox period that lasted almost a week. (This was a good thing, so I continued). Read your labels and research the ingredients. I just did that with my old store bought stuff and 😵 Baking soda is Sodium Bicarbonate. It does not contain aluminum. Do not let the advertisers trick you into paying more for a product that states it is aluminum free. If cornstarch is all you have on hand, then use that. But after watching Ellen’s demonstration, (Thank you for that Ellen! I really appreciated seeing how arrowroot made such a difference.) I would recommend using the arrowroot powder. That will be my choice moving forward. Lastly, I will say that I would put this formula up against Lume. Yes, I can go several days without reapplying. It also works as well as any antiperspirant I have used. (I did make mine with baking soda.) I also used an organic coconut oil with the 76° melting point that works great. My deodorant did have a subtle coconut scent when applying it, but that dissipates later. In fact, there is no scent at all. And by no scent, I mean no odors at all! To say I am impressed with this formula would be an understatement. I will no longer pay $8 for an “Aluminum Free” deodorant nor will I pay $30 for a Natural deodorant. This formulation works great for pennie’s on the dollar.

This is my second batch of deodorants. I’ve saved my husband’s finished deodorant dispensers and I’ve given a friend a travel size and a large size. She said it was one of the best birthday presents she ever got because it was so personal. I made my own labels with my label maker and she loved her name was on the label. She also enjoyed the fragrance. Thanks so much for sharing this. I don’t plan on ever buying deodorant again.

Wow, Ellen, thank you for sharing such wonderful recipe❤🙏. I have been making our deodorant, without baking soda, for some time now (the kind of creamy one that you have to use your finger to apply it on your armpit 🤷‍♀️) but I have been wanting to make the solid bar version, and I have looked at way so many recipes...😲 so your video has just come at just perfect timing. I buy coconut oil right from a family that live in the countryside, regular melting point I would say (I infuse it with sage for 40 days to make the deodorant) and since I don't have access to mango or shea butter I will try this recipe with tallow, using a little less amount than your recipe calls for 🤔... I think it will work just fine. I will share how it turns out. Btw, I still make your tallow balm recipe, I even make it using sheep tallow that I render and deodorize myself, and even though it's a long tiring process the wonderful ginal product is really worth all the hard work. Once again, thank you very much for everything! May the Lord continue to bless you and watch over you and your family. 🙏

Hi Hellen. I was thinking that, if you use 76⁰ coconut oil, as the melting point is lower, it could work with a harder butter, like cocoa butter, and even use a slightly higher percentage of beeswax. I'm from Portugal, and in the area where I live, it's very hot in the summer, so maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to use a harder butter or a little more bee wax. Thanks for the video!

I’mnot a medical professional but I think what causes odor is bacteria, so unless we’re able to control bacteria growth, we’ll be masking the odor but not preventing it or eliminating it. I wonder if using honey would do the trick, though it would probably make the bars sticky, so I don’t think just adding honey to these recipes would work, I think the recipes would have to be reformulated. I wonder if the baking soda has an anti-bacterial property… I do think it probably helps keeping the armpits free of stains, which is nice. Thank you for your video, I love your channel.

Thank you for another great video, thank you for sharing! I was wondering since the 92 degree coconut oil creates a harder deodorant do you think it will also be good for solid lotion bars, balms and other products that “sweat”?
@EllenRuthSoap
@EllenRuthSoap 19 күн бұрын
Yes, you could definitely use it in those other products👍

thank you for sharing this video, very easy to understand and follow! Have you tried adding Magnesium powder for extra odor control? I am gonna experiment with adding a TB or so, see if it helps. We used to use Native deodorant which has Mag hydroxide in it.

I haven't made it with mag. yet, but I think it will be a wonderful addition.

Hello! Love your videos. Any shipping recommendations especially now that it’s summertime? I’ve seen the thermal bubble roll, but haven’t used it myself just yet since my products were launched during fall/winter time.

Summer heat is always a shipping challenge... Bubble wrap does help.

fantastic video! I just wanted to confirm whether zinc oxide can be used instead of baking soda?
@EllenRuthSoap
@EllenRuthSoap 6 ай бұрын
The zinc can leave a white cast on the skin. I suggest doing a small test batch, and see how you like it.
