Wanted to propose a correction- Karna didn't die because he donated his Kavach and Kundal, he died in the Mahabharat war. Also, "Devraj Indra" came to Karna as a beggar to test his beneficence. Another story goes like Shree Krishna went to Karna in the form of a Brahmin and asked for his Kavach and Kundal.

After Karna was injured by Arjuna, Karna was unable to die. At that point, to secure the victory for the Pandavas, Lord Krishna disguised himself as a Brahmin and asked Karna to donate his punya . Karna donated it to the Brahmin and then was unable to achieve moksha, which is why Karna went to hell.

I think you are wrong somewhere, the epic of Karn was that when Indra (father of arjun) asked him for his armor because he wanted to save arjun during the war because if he wore this armor which was given to him by suya dev as he was his child then he was undefeatable and he would defeat arjun and thus win the war that's why Indra was keen on his armor and took it in the morning when he came in form of a sage as Karn did not say to anything in the morning. And that was obviously not the reason of his death.
