The problem with this is force transmission and shock resistance. Magnets don't like sharp vibrations and shock. Also, if the bearings are free to move, then that means they will move given enough force.

Since it is not the magnets that carry the load, but the steel pulleys to which the magnets are attached, the magnets are not affected by shock and vibration.
