This is the most beautiful DIY stirrer I've found on KZbin to make it myself. And I like how it's professional put together. The only thing that I change is a on/off switch in the front. So after 5 years, thank you!

Great tutorial, mate! As a lifelong aquarist, I have found that an airstone works well, as an alternative to a stir plate.

Great vid Larry! I have a similar cigar-box setup only I used a cheap PWM controller from Amazon for the fan speed control. I also keep an extra magnet wrapped in electrical tape to pull the stir-bar off to the side of the flask so I don't drop it in my fermenter when pitching.

Like I mentioned on the other channel they are 20 bucks on Amazon. By the time you order the Fan and assembling it you could have your stir table in the mail
@BEERNBBQBYLARRY2 жыл бұрын
Looking on Amazon, I didn't see any thing that cheap, but prices must have really fallen in recent years because they'd typically be well over $100; often closer to $150. This one was essentially free since it was mostly spare parts I already has lying around except for the stir bars themselves. Plus, it's more rewarding to make things yourself.

I didn't do the DIY. I'll do my 1st yeast starter tomorrow with a stir plate. It goes from really slow, to a really fast tornado that sucks air & bubbles in. Should I do a calm stir. Or oxygen is good for yeast to start & just crank it up?

I love the video. I subscribed to your channel and I am learning from you. I do have questions if you do have some time to answer. How long do you have the fan running to complete the yeast starter? And when you pitch your yeast on the brew day would give yeast starter 24 hrs or more to be ready to be pitch or do you give it some more time? Thank you for your knowledge on how to make great beer.

Hey LARRY, GREAT VIDEO. MY FAN DOESNT SEEM TO RUN FAST ENOUGH. IM USING A 12 volt 100mA power source, do you think that’s not enough power? It just barely makes a vortex in 750ml of water and doesn’t seem to move a yeast starter

so, is it a dumb or smart for me to build a stir plate and use for my 3 gallon fermenter while im fermenting?
@BEERNBBQBYLARRY4 жыл бұрын
If you're building a stir plate WHILE a beer is already fermenting then it's too late for that batch. LOL Seriously, if you are only doing small batches, you don't need to grow yeast since the vials/packages/packets are usually designed for a 5 gallon batch anyway.
@user-mr9tw6dj6h4 жыл бұрын
@@BEERNBBQBYLARRY yes. i am trying to be cheap and save the yeast pitching rate. i am trying to see if i can pitch lesser from my packet by letting the yeast multiply in the starter first. by doing starter, i am also trying to make sure if the yeast is starting before i go make my wort. if no, i dont start with the wort. im new to home brew. I am not sure if my understanding above is accurate or correct. I have some table fan motors sitting around, so i am trying to see also if it is a good idea to make a stir platform for my fermenter
