I look forward to trying of these ideas, thank you for sharing. I'm presently at a point in my life where I am accessing my kits and setting up a comfortable work area to resume the hobby I've put aside for some 40 years, I am so glad to have found your videos. They have been a great inspiration. Thank you. ^..^

I love the magnet idea for props. I recently ordered some small neodymium for some other model attachment ideas.

the magnets for propellers is a great idea! some kits have you attach the prop fairly early in the build which can make masking and painting quite awkward, a magnet prop solves that problem. one of my hacks looks like it would tie in nicely with a couple of yours, and its the use of decorators caulk for gap filling, the ones I use can actually be mixed with water to make it thinner and flow easier, or keep it thick for bigger gaps (it does shrink slightly when dry so sometimes it takes a couple of passes) but any excess can be cleaned off with water, which in turn preserves kit surface detail, so its probably a water based version of sprue goo, and you know what I need next time I use it? yep, silicon brushes! going to see about getting some next time I'm near a hobby shop.

Hiya Lexi . Great hacks here! 👌 magnets have some amazing uses in modelling, definitely going to try them out! Best one for me though is the Guitar strings! Makes rigging aircraft so much easier! Nice video, thanks for the tips 👍 😁

Hi there. Firstly, love the channel and all the work you are doing! I never heard of using guitar strings for rigging before, but that's a great idea! Was always put off doing Bi-Planes because of that, so maybe will give that a go 👍🏻 Also love the magnetic props, again never come across that hack before either, but will definitely try it! Finally, just wanted to say, anyone who can build a kit to a high standard whilst waring those nails gets my full respect! 👌🏻Take care and happy modelling! 😊

I consider gluing on magnets on the end of the shaft, inside the engine.

I use gauge 8 or 9 guitar strings FYI, I tried to buy 8s at my local rehearsal space and they took it in turns to throw insults at me. 10/10 would recommend.

Instead of buying liquid cement, try Acetone (Nail polish remover - which I'm guessing you may have), Ethyl Acetate, or Methyl Ethyl Ketone (M.E.K.) as the solvent (also good for sprue-goo). A litre bottle of which will cost not much more than a couple of jars of Tamiya cement. Empty Tamiya jars are still handy for this, because you don't want to be messing about with a litre bottle of solvent, but any glass jar & any non soluble paintbrush will do.

With brand names in general I think there is a balance between price & performance. Snips for example.. do I want to pay £50 for a pair? Hell no, but equally £5 is false economy. £15 for a decent brand I recognise but isn't the Rolls Royce of snips I think is a good balance. Will the £50 last over three times longer than the £15 pair? Doubtful IMHO so £50 is a waste.

How do you get the length for the rigging wire? It seems hard to get right. Definitely good advice to avoid spending too much on diamond files. They’re very simple, and I haven’t seen any indication that they vary much in quality based on the price. They all look the same and I suspect they’re mostly made in the same factory.
