The actor who played the banker in this scene was spot on, to be honest. The way he portrays how his mouth is literally being forced open by an unknown force, and the panic that comes with it was so clearly drawn in his expressions. Michael Fassbender was amazing, but I also think that his counterparts/victims in this movie played their roles extremely well.

I haven't had cable for decades and don't watch any TV, or really movies anymore. I just can't sit through them as I've seen it all before(cliche after cliche). But I do bounce around through clips for different reasons. Tonight, after watching him with the banker and gold bar in this movie, and after seeing him last week in the beer haus with the gestapo agent in 'Basterds', I just thought "Now here's a guy to follow." Not sure there is one other actor I feel that way about right now.

@@jockastafernandesabbade For someone who isn't French, it's very impressive. It's clear and understandable. I like to think of it this way: I can read and write English fluently, but speaking it is a different matter. Sure, I know all the right words but getting rid of my native accent is very difficult, so even though the words are correct, they will still sound off to a native English speaker because my accent will get in the way. It's extremely difficult for me to lose that accent. They'll understand me, but they'll also immediately peg me as someone who doesn't regularly speak English. It's a lot like that here. The position of the gold bar reflecting Magneto's face while the camera is facing the bank manager is so great. You see him in clear view from the Gold bar, and the bank manager is a little lopsided and not in clear focus. Showing how the gold has corrupted him, but Magneto remains pure in his beliefs and goals in the face of such wealth. And also, it adds that feeling that they are sat across from each other even when there's only one actor physically on camera.

According to James Faulkner, who played the Swiss banker, the scene was supposed to be in English, but Michael Fassbender insisted it be done in French. I’m guessing he wanted to use the French he spent time learning and practicing for his audition as Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds (Yes, he played a different character in that movie, but he initially wanted to play Landa).

This is a bad ass Magneto. Like a force of nature and Fassbender is such a gentleman with this clear feeling that a monster is beneath this well mannered surface. What a force him and Shaw would have bin. If Shaw was not such a psychopath and killed his mom this two would have joined forces (not 100 percent sure though since it all depends if his mother would have survived tha camp or not, if she would not Magneto would hate humans).
@The1stDukeDroklar
@The1stDukeDroklar Жыл бұрын
He didn't hate all humans because of this. It was the actions of humans later that made man into the enemy of all mutants. Magneto was 100% correct in his war on humans.

@@hurmur9528 So you think that humans would believe the mutants should just allow humans to exterminate mutants and the mutants should not fight back? I don't think many humans would think that. They may not like it, but few would say that the mutants should just be a target for humans.

In real life he only speaks English and German from his family background and said he even had to brush up on his German before the movie because it was a little rusty.

@@Beppo85 I kinda guessed he had German roots too thanks to that last name. Thanks for that insight! I just got certified with B2 Level in German. I think I should call myself a polyglot too knowing that I can speak six languages (including German now) :)

Magneto couldn't "move the coin" when he was a kid because those coins from that era made mostly of copper with very little to no metal. At the end of the film he moves it very easily, showing just how powerful he became from Charles' lessons with him, not his lessons with Mean Kevin Bacon In a Funky Helmet(I forget his characters name) Edit: *Klaus Schmidt*

His accent in this scene is amazing, it sounds like a german accent, of course a french is able to tell it's not perfect french but it doesn't sound bad as an english accent, it sounds serious and frightening, it's perfect.
