Magni Moto Guzzi Australia, ride out and tech talk

I tried using a separate mic to get the bike noise but the big Guzzi was a little too much for it I think !!

As a Ducati fanatic I have to say, that the sound on this Moto Guzzi is incredible!

I think there were about 90 units of the series 92 Australias built, there was then a second series built in 98 using the Daytona RS engine (C kitted Daytonas) they had a beam frame as opposed to the tubular/beam on the 92s and different forks. Approx 50 units of the 98 series were made AFAIK Arturo Magni developed the parallelogram arms for the MVs but then developed a chain drive conversion. When MV folded he briefly produced models using Honda then BMW engines, but it was only when he entered into a relationship with Guzzi did bike sales take off and the Australia was probably the pinnacle Magni wanted to build more but Guzzi couldn't supply them with the running gear/engines/gearboxes I know that bike and the previous owner, it's absolutely immaculate and totally sorted, I wish mine was half as good Thanks for the video, that was a treat and I agree they are amazing fun to ride and sound glorious.

As far as I know there where 70 Australia build in 92 and 50 in 98. I got an 98 with 1250cc engine and 135hp. I will never sell it, it's heaven on earth.

@@rolandeisner4751 You could well be correct my numbers are approximate. 1250cc Yikes, Your bike must have undergone some major changes, major players with these AFAIK were Raceco and Dynotech but there were/are others. I'd love to know some more about it.

Given the green frame in the background some trivia for you. First time I rode my 1100 sport I was amazed how much it felt like a bevel. I got out my tape measure and the relationship between bars seat and pegs was identical to an SS/Hailwood/etc, but everything was much higher off the ground. The bike felt like a bevel in a sweeper but the steering didn't load up in hairpins, it pulled from idle and had more torque than the Hailwood mille. Magic bike, but my tiny legs didn't reach the ground. Tontis have much lower seats, more like a 750SS/GT/Sport... I lusted after the early twin shock magnis, and kick myself for not buying the prototype Australia when it came up for sale decades ago in WA...it was even fairly cheap!

@lusson Veloce: a simple Zoom H1n put inside a wrap around foam underneath the seat works wonders. You just use that sound instead of the one from the camera.That's what I do on my Guzzi V11 Le Mans. I live in Texas.

Might want to adjust the mic input a few db's the thing was either getting too much wind input, or too many db's for the input channel to handle. Other than that, the bike sounded Excellent.

This bike is so much prettier in this video than i thought. Sounds great too. I wasn't aware of this collaboration until i played the 'RIDE' games by Milestone a few years ago. I think it was Ride2.. so many glitches. Is it shaft driven? because in that game you could upgrade the chain! 😂 A Laughable mistake.

As a multi-time (and current) Guzzi owner, I wish someone made a Magni rear suspension conversion for the Tonti framed bikes. I currently have two '76 T3s, one of which is being cafe-ed, and that would be a nice upgrade. Maybe it is protected (patented)?.

Magni make them, been doing it for decades. I am assuming magni are still going. After the father died the son took over. Last I looked he was still building bikes to order. The swingarms come up second hand very occasionally. Personally I think it's over rated. My 1100 sport was a very different beast to a tonti but I've never found the shaft effect an issue...

The sound is better, although still with a bit of distortion as the bike revved out into high rpm. Better is better though! On the topic of sound, my preference is just to hear the sound of the bike that you're featuring without any music. I realize that's a subjective criticism, but imo you tend to feature very unique motorcycles and hearing that bike is what we're tuning in for, not for music. Another very cool and unique moto featured in this video that one isn't going to find anywhere else on youtube! Since we're on to Guzzis, any chance you could find an MSG 01 and do a video on that?Imo that's one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever made.

I have sold this bike so I'm not sure how you could be buying it? but to answer your question they are both excellent bikes but very different. the shaft drive on the Guzzi makes it a little quirky and it tends to be a love or hate thing. Monjuic is very cammy small, sharp and precise but the 16 inch wheels make it very hard to get good tyres

Pity that you are in Australia. If the bike had been available in the USA, I might have contemplated purchasing it to second my V11 Le Mans. But post covid, shipping is complete madness. Even if certifying a +25 years old motorcycle is easy in the States. I hope it goes to someone who is going to ride it. Beautiful piece of machinery!
