They follow those rules for a reason, also these women are not neglecting their children, they're busy busy busy making sure they create the environment that allows their sons to survive. You can see them keeping up with politics, foundations, festivities in the cities for Ramadan, etc... making sure things are not going unnoticed when the Sultan goes to war. It's a lot of stress just maintaining relationships. Being a good mum for them is more than just 24*7 near their child. They running a whole operation for survival, including plotting deaths and evading their own death. DANG! parents can't catch a break any century! Also did you not see them sitting by their child all night making sure things were done right? boiling water and getting water for fever or anything is a process there, making food needs to be at the kitchens, everyone needs a place so that when emergency arrives including sickness they can figure out who was in contact, etc... and minimise the threats. Nurse maids can be separated from regular concubines, kitchen staff away, remove the mother even so nothing goes wrong. Also easier to find who poisoned who since they love poisoning people.

I came to this episode completely surrendered. It is one of the biggest and best productions ever made. The actors are very good. The Turkish government should reward producers, no diplomatic action would be more effective to increase respect for the great Turkey, my Italian friends have always indicated this country as one of the most beautiful and interesting in the world. Now I add the compliments. It would be money well spent to develop better subtitles in English, and in Spanish, French, German and Japanese. The world needs to see this monumental work of cinema.

First of all Hurrem was not a Queen, as the ottoman Empire did not have a Queen but a Valide Sultana. And if ever were to be a Queen, it would have been Mahidevran, as she was the mother of Crown Prince Mustafa in which case was also the Prince Regent. This were the Laws of Islam, Palace Rules and Royal Protocol. Also since Hurrem wasn't born into the Dynasty, she wasn't a Sultana by Birth but by marriage, and back then being born into a Dynasty gave you loads of authority, power and privileges. Technically and by Royal Protocol, Hurrem was required and obliged to bow to every single member of the Ottoman Dynasty, included her own children. Idk where you people got that Hurrem was a Queen just because she married Suleiman? You got it all wrong people.
