The golden years of the Ottoman Empire come to life in a television series. The life of Suleiman the Magnificent is preparing to be a guest in your homes in all its glory. Get ready to experience the era with ambition, loves, wars and all the struggle.
Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.

Sultan Süleyman, padişahlığının ilk gününde verdiği buyruklarla nasıl bir padişah olduğunu göstermek ister. Ama bu kararlar herkesin hoşuna gitmeyecektir. Sultan Süleyman ise gönderdiği mesajlarla, tüm Avrupa’ya meydan okumaktan çekinmez.
Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. Eşi ile görüşmeyi sabırsızlıkla beklemektedir.

I think she would have liked Hurrem more if Hurrem weren't so ambitious and instead acted more polite and obedient. I think that's why she never openly preferred Hurrem over Mahi, she knew Hurrem wanted to rule the harem and change it. Mahi was less open about her ambitions in addition to being more polite and obedient; so Valide preferred her.

I mean you cant really blame Valide sultan or Hatice for not liking Hurrem. One is a Crimean princess the other is an Ottoman princess, both have royal blood, were raised like royalty, always had others bow before them, and here comes a slave from Ruthenia, some Roxelana or whatever, and wants to become part of the royalty. Hurrem didnt really care about Valide sultan or Hatice, or other Ottoman princesses, she just wanted to be like them, to have this royal power and privileges, and you cant blame her for that, heck I would want the same if I were Hurrem, but we shouldnt act like Hurrem was this sweet naive innocent girl full of love, nah, she was ambitious and vicious and thats why she won in the end, and became the ruler of harem. I think Valide sultan saw all of this, was worried, that one day, simple slaves will rule the mighty Ottoman empire, and look, it happened, the Sultanate of women is a great example of that. I understand both Hurrem and Valide sultan, both have great reasons to do what they did.

@@RomanusAureus I mostly agree with your points the only one I don't agree with is saying that she didn't care about Valide or Hatice. I think she did very much did and wanted to be close like family to them but they almost always rejected her and tried pushing her down and this scene is the first time Hurrem gives up on it as she doesn't really try again until after she marries Suleyman cause her position is different so she thinks she might have a chance but soon gives up again cause it barely matters to either of them in terms of considering Hurrem as family.

In the series- the progress of showing how Hurrem became strong is really interesting and till the end what she want is the love from her surroundings and she wanted the family. After she have family and she want to keep them safe because when she was young and have no power she lost her parent, sister ,her first love and first child.

If Hurrem was outright declaring "Suleiman will be *my slave"* from the get-go, then you can't blame the Royal family for not being welcoming. The Sultan belonged to the Empire, not even to his own Valide. Trying to monopolise him, openly disrespecting the Royal Court including the Valide? Hurrem was lucky that Valide loved Suleiman so much and gave into his fancy for Hurrem. If it was another woman (heck Hurrem herself did this to Isabella) they would've had her strangled and chucked into the sea.

@@samhart4205 True. But Mahidevran injured Hurrem, tried to poison her on separate occasions. She stole from Hurrem. She was never punished even when proved guilty, because she was Mustafa's mother. However, Hurrem was punished and sent to old palace when she a concubine was found dead. Hurrem was just a suspect because she had arguement with her the previous day and utlimately Sadika hatun was found guilty. Mahidevran was never punished for what she did to Hurrem. She was always protected by Hafsa Sultan. Hurrem may have announced that she would make Suleyman her slave, but she always remained loyal to him.
