I know theres no excuse for any man to treat a woman the way Suleyman treated hurrem in this show BUT for that time it makes sense. He was the great sultan and couldn't allow people to believe (more than they already did) that hurrem could do whatever she wanted, thats why he always punished her the most, was more harsh to her, although unfair, but necessary to show them he wasn't favouring hurrem (although he was)
