The guy played really well for a 1500 player lol

my guess is he wasn't really 1500, a 2200+ would have been proud to play that game.

he calculated 20 moves ahead but opponent just lost piece in 1 move 🤣

Well, if the black would take Nxd5, then after e4 Nb6 it is called Neo-Grünfeld defense. Not in this move order, but Magnus has definitely seen that

This was a strange gambit for black, in this order it has no name
@MartinSolcan

@@Narrowcros this gambit after c6 of course not, but Magnus says that he hasn't ever seen this when black played d4 d5 c4 Nf6 cxd5 g6, which is quite common when the next moves after Nf3 are Nxd5 e4 Nb6

@@MartinSolcan true, but thats something else, if not similar.

@@Narrowcros Yeah, that 1500-rated guy played it like an idiot. Or like a 1500 🤣🤣 But you didn't understand my point. Magnus said that he hasn't seen this opening at the moment where black's moves were d5 Nf6 and g6, which is quite common even without white's Nc3 (which would be obviously Open Grünfeld). The black played Neo-Grünfeld defense and it looks like that both of them didn't notice that.

Couldn't u have checkmated much earlier with a rook sac to take away the rook guarding the king, after having moved your horse into checkmate position with the queen on the right, it's like a mate in 3 but somehow u never saw it

Nae, the names of openings depend on the openings from both sides. Black's opening was simply an inaccuracy.

Idk what u saying but you can't just call something because it resembles or looks like one. Magnus didn't wanted to play nc3... i citate "then it would be a normal grunfeld " @@Moonly507. If you have any opening knowledge then you should know that black tried to get a grunfeld. *edit, if white had played for grunfeld then it would all be fine but just a dubious moving order of black. Can't say who is crackhead but you shouldn't call people that way.
