It appears to me that the obstacle is made to flip towards the constant and not rotate "forward". When the USA guy did it, all his momentum was moving "forward", allowing him to climb it and stabilize.

How is there a tie breaker when no team was tied? Edit: I looked it up, there was no tie breaker, it's just a stupid system.
