Old fart, a year older than Wolfgang would be were he still alive. Really enjoyed the multidimensional aspect of trad climbing, figuring out placements, lines, and possible rests for placements; while hauling up a rack loaded with hexes, nuts, and Friends; and edging in E.B.s. I wonder what the hardest trad line is these days?

Ondra's Terranova is also likely the first 9A/V17 boulder according to Will Bosi who is maybe the single greatest authority on V17 as a grade. Would predate Burden by years and Ondra also sent another V16 the day he did Terranova.

You say the climbing community has forgiven him? Maybe it was GL I heard drilling in Joshua Tree National Park’s Wonderland of Rocks when I was on an 8 day backpacking and rock climbing trip years ago. I was appalled then, and I still am. It’s not like he’s Trump destroying our country for his personal gain and lining his pockets by destroying everything we hold dear… or, yeah, maybe it is. Ok, that’s a seriously bitch ass move. He should have stuck to the Riverside quarry and almost nobody would give a shit.

Man, I drink 400+mg of caffeine a day. I stopped cold turkey for a month once. Worst withdrawals I've ever had! I also used to be an alcoholic(8 years sober), and I used to smoke(5 years smoke free). The withdrawals from quitting caffeine were worse than quitting smoking and drinking combined.

Another great video. Well done, sir. I'd like to make a request. I've heard recent debates regarding the reliability of the figure eight knot. Is it as almighty as they say it is? Would like to hear your take on it.

Have a look at Czech and East German sandstone offwidths , done BEFORE Whillans. Horrific. Terrible gear also. Whillans is a hero though. Weedkiller is survivable if you fall off solo. Probably with some mangled bits though. It's only 30 feet long. Holds have fallen off and it's much harder. The next generation will try to extend Silence. After all, it only climbs 50 % of that overhang.

Speaking of literally nothing, have you heard about the time a drug smuggling plane crashed in Yosemite in the 70s with thousands of pounds of weed, weed that the climbers got their hands on and got rich selling. I remember my dad telling me that story after hearing it from climbers and base jumpers when visiting in the early 80s and it just feels like a video about it would be right up your alley lol

I like seeing the Europeans get indignant about the Yosemite grades, because that means they like ethnocentrism, which was invented by Americans.

If Silence is is 10a, and Will Bosi thinks Terranova might be the worlds first v17. Then Ondra has even more first to his name.

The reality about Stefano and Silence is that actually Stefano really wanted to downgrade Silence like he already did with the megos pitch but found it pretty hard so as a probably 9c+ he will suggest a 9c. Because Stefano is Stefano.

Found your channel by surfing down a rabbit hole that started on Mount Everest videos . I I don't have a dog in this fight, the only rocks I've ever scaled was during the 6 months I spent as a cocaine addict.. but this was a funny video and good on ya for saying something at the end to try and mitigate the keyboard warriors from attacking hymn years later. Cheers !

I think Silence will be upgraded in the next 5years, and then downgraded again in the next 30 years when crack climbers get good enough at sport climbing to get to the crack.
@tegridyfarms619721 сағат бұрын
Pete didn't seem to agree on that. Beside the hard move is the move to the sloper or the sequence to get the foot jam into the crag. I would be suprised if there is anything to gain there and you need to stiff flat shoes for the feet.
