Handball requires even more tempo and coordination than football(soccer) at most levels. I can't comment on professional since I've never been one. Imagine constantly doing su*c*de runs for 30x2 mins. That's the conditioning you need to have to follow the pace. And the pace is needed to make the coordination work.

Handball players are underrated athletes and tend to be more robust and stronger physically compared to football players as well. In other Norwegian game shows that are perhaps a little more serious than Vinnerschkalle like the champions champion and best of the best, there has been a few winners that had handball as their athletic background.
