1. tergiversate (v): to equivocate, be evasive, make conflicting statements. ~ I tend to tergiversate when uncomfortable topics come up at family gatherings. 2. vitiate (v): to impair the quality of sth. ~ Actions like this both undermine our company's position in the market and vitiate our relationship with the government. 3. impecunious (adj): having little or no money, poor. ~ She said she was impecunious but that was the literal meaning. She actually invests in a few companies and owns two houses. 4. exiguous (adj): scant, meager amount of sth. ~ He got the job at a reputable company with an exiguous salary. 5. percipient (adj): perceptive, showing the ability to notice and understand matters, esp not obvious ones. ~ She gave me a percipient comment with regard to the situation I am in. 6. captious (adj): nitpicky and notice trivial faults. ~ I am a captious person, which sometimes makes my family members feel annoyed.

Although Daenerys regarded Tyrion to be a percipient interpreter of Cersei’s mood, he turned out to be the impecunious, captious man who would always tergiversate Daenerys. His actions made Daenerys to tergiversate herself as a merciful leader, ultimately leading her to use exiguous military resources to vitiate King's Landing.

The prime minister always tried to tergiversate regarding the national economy, but being a percipient one you could guess that it is in fact impecunious! I don't want to sound captious though.
