Thank you for the great installation video. Content like this keeps me buying from Brownell's. I'm new to AKs and I had purchased a PSAK-47 build kit from Palmetto State Armory. They have a good assembly video, but it was for the not-so-nice polymer stock, so there was nothing for the Zhukov, even though that was the stock in the upgraded PSAK-47 build kit. Brownell's to the rescue!

Mine just came in today. Thank you! I modified it to fit my Bulgarian. It won't win any beauty awards, but neither will the stock that came with it. Mine was missing both the drop in wedge block washer and the tang well nut. So since I was installing it on a milled receiver I just used the receiver screw and put it up through the tang screw hole and used the wedge block nut. :)

One tip: If you didn't get the front screw (I didn't!) tighten the wedge block first, then tighten the rear tang screw, otherwise everything will be lopsided. Took me a few WTF's and watching this video to find out my trunnion screw was missing.

Thanks for the video, it looks like a pretty simple process. I plan to buy Kalashnikov USA's KP9 in the near future, and noticed it doesn't include a stock. I contacted Magpul and asked them if it would work, and they assured me that the stock is compatible with all AK platforms.

This video makes it look easy, I have a century arms RAS47. And putting this stock on was like wrestling a damn bear, I had to cut and file parts out of the stock and the excessive amount of force I had to put in just to make it fit.

_+Afro Sam_ It is completely legal to put a folding stock on an AK, the only way it wouldn't be legal is if your AK qualifies as a pistol. If your AK has a barrel less than 16 inches, and an overall length less than 26 inches, then it is illegal to put _any_ stock on it; thus the pistol brace was born. If your AK falls under this category, then you would need to fill out an ATF Form 1 and pay a $200.00 (USD) tax stamp. This would make it an SBR (NFA item), then you could legally put this folding stock on it. However, if your AK is a classified as a rifle, then you have no legal restraint from putting this stock on it. It is 922r compliant, and is 100% legal for you to put on your rifle.

They do, but not many people know how to properly put them back on. Slide the front of the cover into the groove above the front trunnion, then with your thumb keep pressure on the rear side of the cover maintaining everything aligned, then use her free hand to smack down firmly (not too hard) on the top of the cover.

Mine fits way too loose and when I tighten everything down the top part tilts back leaving a slight gap and it does not feel sturdy at all.

No need. Everything is pretty solid. Magpul uses very in-spect screws and bolts.

Great info, thanks for sharing. You should have mentioned that the Zhukov requires the rear trunion for fixed stocks to be installed. If the rifle has a different rear trunion (like Bulgarian folders), the Zhukov cannot be installed

Word of warning: Magpul made the very poor decision of using a plastic hinge on these stocks, instead of doing the sensible thing of having a metal block on each side. This makes them extremely vulnerable to breaking with hard use. There have been lots of reports of them breaking.

Will this still function if Magpul doesnt send the brass washer for the 7/16 screw? I had ordered my AK from PSA and they didnt send the screws with it so I called Magpul and they sent me the screw kit needed but it doesnt have the brass washer. Can someone here verify the stock's rear trunnion tang insertion length ( into the back of the receiver, 1:25 - 1:30 )..let's say, as measured forward from the rear vertical face of the receiver? I have a Saiga that was modified to AK specs, but chose to retain the original trigger pins to cover the holes. The rear trigger pin hole on a Saiga starts about 1 3/16" forward of the rear receiver face and I hope it won't interfere with the stock insertion length. Thanks.

I don't think so. The Bulgarian Milled has two large metal tabs that come out of the rear. You would need to at least cut the lower one off which would be permanent modification. You might be able to make it work but your could have a real issue if you ever try to sell it unless you find another person who wants this stock forever.

Only one small issue. In my opinion, replacing the wood furniture destroys the aesthetics. I bought mine to shoot but also to display. I really like the iconic design. It makes a statement. People immediately recognize it. Remove the wood and it loses it's identity. It looks gangster.

If it did and you had a side rail AK scope mount. You would probably have to make the choice of not folding the stock , or removing the mount . That’s why it folds to the right .

That cast trunnion is going to start cracking after a few hundred rounds. Good luck, hope you don't get seriously injured when your RAS47 blows up in your hands. You should have bought a WASR-10, they aren't much more and they will actually function instead of falling apart after a year. Cast trunnions like in the RAS47 are not durable and will eventually break, it's a matter of when. WASR-10's have milled trunnions which is far better, although, the best you can get is forged.
