Review: The Magpul Zhukov -S Stock for Ak Rifles

Great review! I have PSA 103 gf5 model. I really wanted to have it fully in wood, so this Zhukov stock gives me opportunity to have both folding stock and wood one. I just spray painted it into desert tan, and it looks really good with wood handguard. I think it's the best option, especially considering the price of 100$, other stocks are Romanian wire, doesn't look comfortable at all, and Zenitco which is 800$+ 🤣 I actually know a case where guy cracked his Zenitco stock, idk if he mounted it wrong or what. Also most guys who want comfort change Kalashnikov metal triangle stocks into Ar looking stocks, similar to what AK 12 has. And yes I know that test you are talking about, where the guy froze it and broke it. That's really unrealistic test, even in freezing temperatures it wouldn't freeze that way. And anything can brake in this life lol. I didn't try it myself but maybe if you put ballistol or other oil on it, you might have easier time regulating the length. Overall I am very happy with a stock and would recommend.

i'm in the same boat, love my Walnut Zpap, but want a better stock with a higher cheek weld for the red dot. Hope you didn't pay $100 though, they're $72 on GrabAGun.

It’s a good proven stock. I’ve had one my Saiga since they came out.. and as for the handguard, I’ve change many times but I always come back. There is no better heat protection. So you’ve done well be happy.

I have this on my GF3 AK47 by palmetto state armory. It’s the very first mod I did because I hated how the original buttstock felt, didn’t absorb any recoil, and constantly gave me cheek slap.

The only thing about this stock that I don't like is that the molded sling loop isn't big enough for a traditional AK sling to pass through.

@@Conklikov You can bend the clip and remove it and slightly dremmel the sling slot on the stock and it will go, or but a QD for the side mount.

I had the plastic latch failed on mine. I don’t abuse it. Magpul replaced it but my confidence in the products durability has been shaken

Ya that’s definitely a big downer. Considering the are really the only manufacturer that makes decent looking affordable stuff in the Ak world

Will your stock Pop really loud if you shoulder it with a little force

Mine does not , it’s very firm and doesn’t move

Mine does sometimes, not loudly but it is noticeable. Nothing else happens, it's still sturdy. Only when I have it extended out from it's shortest LoP

The Zhukov stock on PSA AK is till down when open and when closed it would block the charging handle from going back, So, I cannot shoot it with stock folded. Is there a fix this issue?

I haven’t heard of a fix to that issue you may want to give Ak owners forum and see if someone on that has a solution

@@Conklikov I removed the stock, the top screw was missing the conical washer. The stock angle adjusting block nut was missing too I replaced the nut for the block But I could not find a replacement for the the brass washer

What cheek riser is optimum for a red dot? .25", .5"? or is the stock height good?

Truthfully I have not ran a red dot on it yet to know. But plan to , I’ll circle back once I get into it

Is this bigger than the factory wood stocks on the Zpaps? I love my Zpap but the wood stock is too small it won't stay put when shooting

Yes you can a little more dexterity required but you can

Good question, Because Ak optics mounts are on the left. So it would not fold flat if it were set up to go to the lefr

@@Conklikov I forgot that Ak rifles have the optic mount on the left. I’m used to my zpap pistol and it has a rail on top for optics.

I honestly don’t have a clue. Not sure what import restrictions may exist. It may be worth it to contact Magpul and see if they have a distributor that can help you or if this can ship to you.
