That is what I ran into, bought SL-M and then it was short on the regular buffer tube. Instead I ordered KAK mini m4 tubes and those fit perfectly

So did I, but I also have lwrc pdw stock and tubes d checked how that matches. Then found KAK industries!aies short tubes as well for just 30+ dollars. Just don't ask how many SL-M stocks I bought, on sale...

Is one a tighter fit on a buffer tube than the other?

In my experience they feel about same. Though sl-s stock I have on another rifle is extremely tight. Let me see how these two feel after I put a few hundred rounds through,as they are part of new SBR upgrades

That is true, maybe they are trying to sell all sl-m and discontinue that model. That could explain the lower price
