My friend and I were the first to traverse the Magruder corridor in 2013. It was late June. Locals in Elk city told us we would be blocked by snow, but we just barely made it to the summit. Then the real problem began. the 10 mile or so stretch through the then recent fire took us 4 hours. There was downed timber all over the place. We cut some, moved some, rode over some, and even layed our KLRs on their sides and dragged them under a few. It was a good fun part of a 1300ish mile loop we did. Good memories.

That's way more hardcore than I am. It's a very cool area for sure, the more I ride in that part of Idaho, the more amazed with it I am. I can imagine that fresh snow melt and water can make that road a lot more challenging than what I rode on. The downed trees would have turned me around.

@@DeweyRides I wouldn't have made it solo, or on a heavier bike. But we just managed to pull it off working together to get through the downed trees. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I have a couple hundred photos from that trip but I never managed to put together a ride report.

I appreciate that. This was old footage. I did this trip in 2018, but edited it to put out last winter so I could keep videos coming out.

It's a very cool place. It is about as remote a place as you can get in the main part of the US, it is really beautiful and the remoteness makes it a real adventure.
@DeweyRides

I also had to look to put just how remote and big this area is. In UK terms, the wilderness area this runs through, is about the size of Wales. , This is the one road in that whole combined area. So it is a pretty big area with absolutely nothing but wilderness around.

@@DeweyRides my father law drove it in a 1985 tiny 2wd Toyota pickup ten years ago. I’m not sure he enjoyed doing it that way but I’ve always wanted to drive it. I’ve backpacked in the selway quite a bit over the years

If you have backpacked the Selway, then you certainly know that area better than me. I think even in a truck it would be a fun route, you get to see all the scenery.

There's something very cool about riding through a hundred miles of nothing....x2. You gotta love the granite graded roads out there in the middle of nowhere!

That is such an awesome ride. You have to slow down because camping out there is so cool, you don't want to ride all day and then end up in Darby, MT. The next one is LoLo Motorway, which is even better. This was actually the trip that we showed up to Billy Bob on the way home from.

Gotta give ya respect. Riding and traveling in cold weather is never easy. Nice camp site with a great view. Do you have a way to recharge your camera/batteries, or did you take extra ones? Those cliff riding trails are incredible! Boss music too. What happens if a rider is coming the other way!
@DeweyRides
@DeweyRides 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. I can charge cameras from the bike, I also have a 30000mha battery bank. That was all filmed on my cell phone and with a couple of gopro sessions, so no battery swaps available. If someone is coming the other way, you just slow down and make it work. We never saw another vehicle the whole way, two other motorcyclists came by whole we were packing up our tents, that was it. There isn't much traffic up there, especially that late in the season.

@@DeweyRides That's probably for the best. Once its over crowed it loses its purity and being sought after as a place far from where we live. Nice idea with the battery bank, though it sounds like this isn't your first camping rodeo.

It is super cool. And not many people ever get there to see it. The next on I think even more amazing and sadly even less people go see it. I'm a little surprised you watched much, it was dang near all music (I filmed it before I had a mic and real helmet can setup).
