I paid $10 more for Belkins and it’s 100% worth it! It has MagSafe, watch charger, and an additional regular wireless charger for AirPods or any device. All on a nice sturdy stand. Idk why Apple charges so much for this one lol. I got the Belkin from apples website.

I have purchased a MagSafe duo (used but like new) to give it a shot. I thought I would return it while ordering but man this thing is really convenient. Saves me from carrying tons of adapters, cables and stuff. When I travel I just bring my MacBook Air charger and cable along with a tiny OTG Type-C to Lightning converter dongle and this fella and be done with it. It is expensive for sure for a wireless charger, but it is way more compact and convenient than carrying 3 4 adapters, cables and dongles for all my devices.

Last year prior to MagSafe I ordered the Apple Exclusive Scosche BaseLynx Modular System Pro Kit for our two iPhone 11 Pro Max and my Watch. Basically it’s a wireless charging home station with no adapter needed as it plugs in the wall and power passed to each module you care to add which I added one for a second iPhone. The Kit charges a iPhones, a Watch and any other five devices you care to cable up and leave in the rack. It came with two braided lightning cables (USB A & C) that plugged in one of the three USB A (12W) jacks or two USB C (18W) jack. The iPhone chargers have charging verification lights and a silicone ring to help keep the phone stationary. The Watch charger can also flip up to charge the watch in either orientation. For the iPhone 12 owners the MagSafe Duo Charger will be slightly less expensive but lacks 72W of charging by cables. The MagsSafe Duo Charger is the clear winner for the need of a portable system or for faster wireless charging. There is a reason Apple is still selling this system a year after I bought it. It is a home device clutter collector charging station for as many devices you care to charge. Have more phones to charge or additional watches or none? Each module can be bought as needed by skipping the kit and buying just what you need. I love this review and the future with MagSafe but until then....👍🏼

I think you are overlooking a few aspects with your testing. The power through the usb cable is not the same as the power into the iphone. You are assuming 100% transmission efficiency through the wireless interface when it is more like 60-70% efficient. You can check with an app like ampere lite which estimates watts based on speed of battery percentage rise. That way you can compare and see that that 15W via magsafe is much slower than 15W wired (measuring using your inline usb device)

Great review. Love how you use the x-ray paper. Don’t know why they didn’t have a three-way. I’ve got a three-way pad for phone, watch and AirPods and leave all three overnight. Missed opportunities at Apple didn’t do the same. Also, at $130 it’s too expensive.

At $ 129 I would expect something akin to a stitched leather exterior bundled with a 30 W adapter and braided USB C to C cable at minimum. Going by the looks it looks like it should cost no more than $ 50!

I bought a MagSafe Duo recently (Amazon UK 99 pounds) having watched Aaron's video - trusted source! Surely charger performance is only relevant if you don't sleep much, as any iPhone charger will complete its work within about 6 hours. It's good to have phone and watch side by side so I can listen to early morning radio. It's a neat package, overpriced if viewed objectively but decent value as another piece in the Apple jigsaw.

The verge claims that you can fold it backwards if you only want to charge 1 device. Is that possible? I’ve seen 10 KZbin reviews/unboxing videos and not a single one even attempts it. It would be pretty neat if you could. Also, does the plastic crease in the middle? Thanks for a great video!

There are rumours about the next iPhone being completely portless, so MagSafe or Qi wireless charging will be necessary eventually. I think MagSafe is Apple‘s first step in the direction of a portless iPhone.

Am I mistaken, or where those 20w chargers from Apple 18w last year? The one that came with the iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPad Pro 11"? No plans to purchase any of these. Got mine today and really wanted it but completely regretted it once I saw it gets creased fast in between, gets dirty easily unless you’re a nut for cleanliness and also It’s not portable at all you still have to carry it around and at that point you might as well have both chargers with you. That’s not even mentioning the wild size it is. You can’t really have it casually on the back of your phone it’s a carry around when I thought it’d be a lot like the wallet where you can easily have it on. This is a carry around accessory and for that it sucks, just carry both chargers.

I was going to get the iPhone 12, would’ve been my first iPhone without button, I had the iPhone 8 Plus for 2 years before I switched to the iPhone SE (2020) and although I didn’t regret this change I did miss the bigger screen and although it’s not that bad, would still be nice to have a bigger screen. I’m going to wait for either the iPhone 13 or if the rumors are true the iPhone SE PLUS. I prefer the button to be honest.
