I wouldn't bother with the "clip it into a Magura transport device" when inserting the support sleeve, too easy to squeeze too hard and damage the tubing (which I just did, and I wasn't being overly aggressive); wear gloves and that will generate enough friction to hold it, and just be cautious. Fortunately I had enough slack remaining that I could just cut the hose again.

Or buy something like the Jagwire Needle Driver tool which presses in the inner barb without the use of hammers.

at 0:53 the video states "so that the tubing lies flush with the master." But don't you mean that one should put enough oil into the master so that the oil is flush with the lip of the master? That is what is shown.... Thanks.

Probably most of us (customers) are switching from a pre-existing brake to a Magura. When installing the back brake in bikes with internal cabling it is useful to use the existing hose to pull the new hose. In the past I had a dropper post that came with a two-sided screw, which one would screw at one side in the old hose, and in the new hose at the other side, connecting them, and allowing to pull the new hose in while pulling the old hose out. Does anyone know how this screw is called and where to buy it?

Hi, in the paper manual, before turning the brake lever vertically, there's a step that is missing in the video: 'Carefully press brake pads apart to the stop with transport device ora a wide screwdriver'. Is this step mandatory?

What's the bit called that you're using on the torque driver to torque the sleeve nut to 4Nm? I've been searching like crazy but I can't find anything like it.
@MAGURAPassionPeople
@MAGURAPassionPeople 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment! Yes, this unfortunately isn't a common tool. We call it SW8,0 - we sell it as an adapter blade for the wiha 4Nm torque driver. You can use a crowfoot adapter for a normal torque wrench instead, but keep in mind that the leverage might change the torque setting you need, so it's important to follow the instructions of the crowfoot adapter manufacturer and torque wrench manufacturer accordingly when using a crowfoot adapter.

We have a 4 Nm torque driver by Wiha with a SW 8,0 adapter for the sleeve nut that is available to our dealership partners that you could order via one of them: magura.com/en/EUR/dealer-search The product number is 2701485 . Alternatively, you can use a regular torque wrench with a crowfoot adapter. Just make sure to take into account the change in effective torque caused by the crowfoot adapter.

Yes, a bag of small parts such as spare olives and insert pins are included with a new brake. In order to shorten the tubes you will also need a hose cutter and appropriate service kit with our Royal Blood mineral oil, if you need to bleed the system afterwards.
@iulian2548
@iulian2548 Жыл бұрын
@@MAGURAPassionPeople I bought the MT Trail Sports and had no issues with the tube shortening. The front brake runs on a 160 mm Storm SL disk and bites less than a first gen MT4 on a 180 mm identical rotor. What pads do the brakes come with from the factory and what pads do you recommend for a bit more power on the front? I do not want to go 180mm with the rotor. PS: besides this brakes, we use a 2007 Louise and a 2014 MT4; both still work like new after lots of abuse in mountain biking and bike-packing, including traversing salt flats in the Andes and even using sewing machine oil to bleed them since we had no other better options in the out backs of Bolivia . I can't testify about the newer models, but those older ones were really durable. I think that Louise was pretty hard to beat back in the day, so much power and modulation, really impressive for that era.

@MAGURAPassionPeople
@MAGURAPassionPeople 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes it's the same procedure when doing internal routing. ...of course connecting the hose back to the master only after routing it through the frame. A plug can help prevent oil loss and oil spilling within the frame, but isn't necessary per se. You will most likely need to bleed the brake afterwards anyways.

Looking at some MT Trail Sport brakes (like everyone else). Do I need to bleed the system on a new set when shortening the tube? What kind of kit should I have on hand and what kind of stoppers come in the stock kit? Do they have blocks like the transport devices when you buy them new?
@MAGURAPassionPeople
@MAGURAPassionPeople 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment! There's a chance that you might be able to shorten the hose without needing a bleed afterwards, but it's likely that you will need to bleed it. For that you will need one of our bleed kits. Our brakes come with the yellow transport devices which should be the only thing used as bleed blocks when bleeding.

You can probably get a similar plug at an auto shop. It looks like an underbody trim clip piece. They also sell cover/caps that are used in the same manner, but go over tubing instead of inside the tube. It should keep the dirt out and the oil in.
