Awesome Downtown Approach!!! Fantastic HD 757 Landing At Phoenix Sky Harbor!!!

Great overview of downtown Phoenix! Watch as we approach from the West over Glendale, pass right over Downtown Phoenix and land on Runway 8 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport! Listen to the awesome Rolls Royce RB-211 engine sound as we approach and touch down with excellent reverse thrust! Gorgeous day here in September despite temperatures of over 100 degrees! This flight was very quick and featured a beverage service on board today! Filmed from the first row of the economy cabin aboard US Airways! Flight 1185 from San Diego. 9/6/11.

I love passenger view vids like this one! When I fly, I'm like the only guy on the whole plane that's looking out the window. I took a Delta flight on a 737-900ER from SLC to ATL, but because I was stitting in an islie seat, the bitch sitting next to the window had the shades closed the whole time so I couldn't see a thing.

Love the engine sounds and when we landed in Orlando On a Frontier A319 Our Pilot Slammed on the brakes and went full reverse thrust I was taking pictures and my head hit the seat in front of me it was hilarious

Mah584jr HD Aviation... From the East is nice too. You can see the lakes feeding into the canal system, Then you follow the dry Salt River bed to a good view of the Downtown Tempe "riverfront". Its a section of the dry river that has been filled by a small dam.

Wow! The downtown approach is truly amazing! Sadly when I flew in Phoenix we did not take that approach:(, I have done it in flight sims tho! I stayed in a 20 floor hotel there and the planes flew very close to us, an avgeeks dream!

I used to go to this airport all the time as a kid. But lately I've been going to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway airport cause it's easier. But I'll be going back to sky harbor cause I'm going on a trip to Mexico :)

I just want to know why that whenever I fly into Sky Harbor, we always land from the East, over Tempe. Even when coming in from LAX. It never fails.

I realize this comment is a year old but I thought I'd tell you why incase you never found out. Here in Phoenix the wind is usually from the West going East and planes get the best lift flying against the wind. It's especially important during take off or an aborted landing that you have all the lift you need. Another advantage of flying in to wind is lower take off speed is needed and less runway is used. If there is no wind East to West is default. I work at Sky Harbor and only see East bound direction about once a week, if that.
