Krishna wanted to make one thing very clear: Dharma should always overcome Adharma. If the Narayani Sena helped the Pandavas, they would have been very strong. Then, the Mahabharata would just be about who had the strong army. But Krishna said if you choose Adharma, even if you had a strong army, you would lose! That's the reason Krishna sacrificed his own army.
