With every volume he discarded my heart sank. I know that those 12 volumes are hard to finish. But how can you expect the fruit of Mahabharata when you lack patience and dedication. If you seek the greatest pleasure of understanding Mahabharata the tough road is the one you should choose. Invest your time. And it will reward you in ways you may not be able to comprehend(but feel by your senses)

It was a pleasure hearing your interpretation of the Mahabharata, I would add that Mahabharata is not just about the plot or the story of Pandavas , but it also gives an insight of what the thought process should be like for anyone who's caught in dilemma or in any other difficulty of life for that matter, which is why the discourse between Bhishma and Pandavas after battle is so important , moreover you can watch the BR chopra Mahabharata with English subtitles in KZbin as well , it also gives a good idea of what it is and learnings from it.

It is really a history. Because dwarka (which is under the arabian sea due to shap of gandhari ). Gandhar (today it's name is kandahar of Afghanistan ). like this many examples.

I really appreciate you for taking the pain to come up with a gist of Mahabharata. But I'm surprised to hear about your comments on the 18 days of war. It is long due to the fact that Arjuna was in dilemma to fight against his kin and kith, and how Krishna convinces him to still fight (As you said its the sermon that Krishna gives to Arjuna which is described in another book called Bhagavat Gita - 700 verses)+ all the warriors on the Kauravas side are super strong to beat in the battle. But what kind of techniques are used, being in the limits of war rules and not violating any of them, to defeat and kill each one of the Kauravas is worth the 3 books. That is why it is called as "Dharm Yudh" (Yudh means War but Dharm doesn't have a one word translation to English. Some of the words that describe Dharm are Holy, Right, morally upright, balance etc).

Lee thanks for your question. Mahabharata is referred to as itihasa - that which took place.. The book contains the history of ancient India and takes place over 5000 years ago in the previous age - Dvapara Yuga. The four different ages each have their own characteristics and people had various sensibilities and powers. The demigods were more inclined to appear on earth in previous ages. Now in the present age of Kali Yuga, people's physical and mental abilities are very much minimized. This is the age of rampant quarrel, greed and lies. Most people have a superficial understanding of religion and they view the histories of the previous ages as mythology. If you have any other thought or concerns, please get in touch. - Andy

@@lee_wen The so called scientific advancement is one of the problems of this Kali-Yuga. So many additives or chemical spraying in and on the food we eat is not healthy. So much use of cell phones is not healthy. So much anxiety due to our fast-paced, demanding culture is not healthy. So much chemicals from our factories and garbage create polluted air and oceans. So much slaughter of cows and other animals create a horrible and violent atmosphere. All these so called advancements are damaging our physical and mental well being. The Mahabharata is all about how to apply the principles of dharma to improve our lives. People have to learn how to live a principled life rather than a life measured by the accumulation of wealth and material gains.I hope all is well by you.
