I’m in my early 20’s, battling with depression & addiction to many things. This song is what my heart feels at night when I’m crying by myself, I hope the Lord doesn’t move my mountains; I’m praying for the strength to climb them myself. If anyone is reading this after April 2020 please take care of yourself and appreciate your life.

Most of the time depression and addictions are linked to demons. There was a time in my life when I was suicidal. I felt depressed and I wanted to die. I cried so much. I begged God to saved me and he heard my cry. I fasted and prayed and read the word of God. Also, a group of a prayful brothers in Christ prayed for my deliverance in the name of Jesus. God is faithful. He freed me from that demon of depression. I felt so free and so light. As if a heavy burden was lifted off of me. Fasting and praying is one of the greatest weapon against any demon. All the glory be to God.

It's a shame that todays church music is drowned out by loud drums and guitar and often the organ and piano is replaced with synthisizers. A big screen with video and lyrics now clutter the wall and the sound system is cranked all the way to 11. some churches have people doing interpretive movement, sign language and ballet dancing. But give me a classy singer like Mahalia singing from the heart with just simple piano or organ accompment any day, over loud music. we need more of this music.

Once there was a time when people said “I remember when church was just monks chanting, now we got pipe organs with all there shiny pipes, you know who likes pipes-THE DEVIL”. So tell me what era of music lost Gods blessings. If you want to be true to the original church, Jesus was a Jew. I can’t speak for every church, but every church I’ve been blessed to be a part of the “worship” team, has prayed extensively that we not be a performance, that we are not on a stage, and that God would use us to move peoples hearts into the spirit of worship and preparedness to receive Gods word for their heart. From the beginning we were to bring our best to the altar, our praise and worship should be no different. Believe it or not, you can encounter Gods presence just as much through Hillsong, as you can in a 1000 year old hymn. Check out Tasha Cobbs-modern worship-extremely skilled vocalist- and she gives herself wholeheartedly to God with every note that comes from her mouth.

Lord, I haven't heard this in over 20 years. My grandma would play Mahalia in the mornings, and I would wake up in the morning to her songs. Listening to this just brings me back to my childhood.

But did you see the number of likes... you wouldn’t be GREAT, if there was NO opposition. That measly little two hundred and some odd number is nothing compared to the masses, young and old alike, black, white, yellow and brown. Good, bad or indifferent, that continue the love for the QUEEN

Whew this is a powerful song. I love old gospel music because the words had meaning and it was clear that they were singing about God. This crap today is fit for for the club...not ministry or soul winning.

No matter how you feel about religion, there is a certain otherworldly resonance that gospel singers give off, and it's just so damn soothing; it could make the skies weep, and it's so damn lovely.

This great spiritual carried many through the struggle for civil rights in the 1960's, but sadly after all these years, there is still work to be done.

The devil thinks he can win but we need to pray for fear and doubt to be removed from our hearts so that nothing but a fortitude of strength and faith holds within us.

Lord don't move the mountain. Give me strength to climb... It's sad that, nowadays, it's the opposite. Lord please move the mountain. I don't want to climb. Man, I tell you true, we are slipping as a nation. Have mercy.

We have forgotten the pain of our forefathers. Most of the hymns were prayers in song. This day and time most of us worry about getting more stuff. I speak for myself also. I Thank God for his mercy!
