How To Communicate Effectively With People | Mahatria Explains The Art Of Communication

Have you ever felt that what you're communicating to people is ultimately ineffective? Once you realize that the miscommunication error comes from the communicator and not the receiver, it redefines the way you perceive interactions in life. This hypothesis is supported by the Sapthavada Gnyaayam, which states that if it takes seven vadas to satiate your hunger, though the seventh vada is the one to quench your hunger, it is meaningless without the groundwork of the preceding six vadas. The case is similar when it comes to communication as well. Only 10% of the communication we put across is the message, the remaining 90% is based on preparing the mind to receive our communication. Mahatria illustrates this aspect of knowledge wonderfully with the use of examples such as Arjuna's dilemma in the Bhagavad Gita, to everyday situations like close trials in a sale! The wisdom of the Sapthavada Gnyaayam is, never sell to an unprepared mind. First, prepare the mind, and then communicate effectively.

This process happens in politics. I have personally see it happen. First, a local leader will go and meet the supreme leader with a few of his friends. The supreme leader asks" what can I do for you?" The local leader replies says " Just for your blessings". After six times, the seventh vada is a real deal fixer! Now, I understand the logic!

Though I agree to many of the points shared, I do have some different perspectives. The quality of the listener is also an important aspect, and entire responsibility cannot be only attributed to the communicator only. Just to trigger some thoughts - Why was Gita imparted only to Arjuna and not to Bhima or Yudhistira ? No matter how much you prepare the soil, the quality of the seed also plays an important role. If you end up putting a poor quality mango seed in a fully prepared soil, you still end up getting a Mango tree, but one that no one would eat, as it would be too sour

Just google on how to tell a story. You will get the answer. For example take this video, he talked about the vada story before diving into the main topic of preparing the mind. The story or the examples which he gave are all preparing the mind of the audience to receive the message he is going to convey. Another example... When you write a mail, and what ever you type in the subject box is preparing the mind for the main message in the email. Hope this answered. But if you are looking for how to attract other mind towards your interest then it's a different topic altogether.

It's just like foreplay before sex. Before telling someone a bad news you tell them you will be there for them whatever, lend them ur shoulder n give the news. That's preparing a mind for grief. Similarly you can do it for different instances in your life. Only condition is that you should care about the person or people to whom you are preparing the mind. Try on how to tell a story... It will help you more.

Since from last few years to have good communication skills and that too in English is become must at some extent it's good too.but is it must? I have worked with 8 countries I have worked, only UK and US speaks English.germany, South Korea, china, Japan, Spain and lot other countries don't bother about English. they translated required knowledge in their language. We got lot schcoler and wisdom in rular area.Those who coming from interiors developes inferiority complex. When I read few people used to laugh on English of legend like Kapil Dev,bhaji, नवाझुद्दीन Siddique, इरफान खान. It's simply rediculus and stupidity. they are excellent in their fields. game or acting. this is communication skills to try to know other side language and getures respectfully.Kapil Dev,bhajji represents our country to play cricket not as a english parrets.
