lets not forget that Potchettino has some very good games against all top teams home and away last season except Liverpool at anfield and arsenal at emirates, and this is the third year of this squad. Today, Liverpool came with the intention of not losing the game. The way they set up, they would have been fine fine with a point. If you watched closely, Madueke was double teamed all the time and Palmer was closed down quickly. It was obvious from the kickoff they were setup to catch us on the counter. They let us have the ball and blocked all our channels. If we were strong defensively, we would have won just based on how liverpool setup today. Did you see any overlaps from Trent or Robinson today? That should tell you something

The trouble with these two chelsea men(Lavia and caicedo) is: in as much as they are very good at what they do which is breaking up play, they do not offer much when it comes to managing the tempo and orchestrating play from deep like busquets, xavi, Rodri, Partey(at his best), King Kroos, now I believe they are still young and they would grow to add this part to their game because when Palmer is cancelled like he was cancelled today and like he would be cancelled against real opposition not the small teams, you need other guys in the midfield to run the show. Sancho would flatter to deceive but can't be the guy starting over neto.

Liverpool fan. Chelsea is a different looking team this season. Much better and will only improve thru the season. Liverpool set up knowing that. They kept Palmer quiet, and defended well rather than go gung-ho all day long. Trent stayed back and that kept the right back position tight. Liverpool defended with all 11 men. Nunez may be lacking goals, but he defended like a lion today. To keep this Chelsea team to only 2 shots on target was a Masterclass and made the difference. Bravo though to Chelsea for showing up strong and making it a great game.

I'd argue we did deserve something out of that. Im not saying we deserved to win, Im not saying we deserved to lose neither. But we had some chances, had control, especially that first 25. Shame that their first goal really knocked us off our rythm for the rest of the half. Shoudlve had a pen though as well. Palmer was not clinical and needed to lay that one off to Madueke in the second half. Lavia did amazing, we used him as a shadow on Gravenberch in the first half to great affect. Caicedo was strong as well, great carries thru their lines. Jackson was quiet in the first but once he got on the ball in the second he had some great turns and runs, good finish too. Overall nothing has changed for me, we weren't expecting to go to Liverpool and play them off the park. It was a game of fine margins against a top top side. Anyone who was ever talking of title charges this season were taking the mick anyway, its about seeing progress and developing our new system under a new manager with very young players.

Good take! Chelsea played really well, looked well coached, structured, and purposeful. Liverpool wanted Caicedo and Lavia really badly and that says a lot. These players are coming through and flourishing. Slot got it tactically right. Liverpool didn't over commit to the press or on the counter. And that meant Chelsea didn't have much space to hurt Liverpool. The gap is still big in my opinion, not in terms of ability but in terms of tactical maturity (including Maresca). With the pool of talent available and a good coach in Maresca, Chelsea has every reason to be hopeful. I think this is best compared to Arsenal of 4-5 years ago. There will be lows. Stick with the team and in a few years, Chelsea will be formidable.

Sanchez let us down today. He hesitated the second goal after a bad first touch from Jones. We can’t have a keeper who isn’t willing to sweep in this system. People were blaming Fofana but evidently everyone is a suspect. I think we will struggle to defend for the rest of the season, bcuz if we fix that we become title contenders. I'm a Liverpool season ticket holder and it's hard to sum that game up really. The ref didn't help with poor decisions all round, Chelsea got the better of Robertson too often but didn't offer too much of a threat, Szoboszlai is hugely overrated and runs into blind alleys which didn't help us. Personally I miss Klopp's style of play, all this c*** from our fans saying we're winning games we would have lost last season when we also won 10/11 of the exact same fixtures but played way better, is annoying. Room for improvement from both teams. Liverpool do have an insane home record in the league though, it's 3 losses (with fans in) in 7 seasons. We can be s*ite but still get something 😄

Nahh I don’t think we deserved to lose today. We were unable to create major chances today because the fulcrum, Cole Palmer was missing. And it’s not even his fault, they just couldn’t get the ball to him in dangerous positions. I was thinking Maresca second half should put Noni on left wing to run at Trent, Cole Palmer on the right and then Felix at CAM. But well. And yes I expected us to concede at least one or two. Btw he does that often. also I think he shouldn't of started. we would of being better with Gusto on the right and Veiga on the left he would of handled Salah Better. anyway we know we are a work in progress, but one thing for sure is we 100% need a top keeper Sanchez does not cut it man, also we need a top solid rock defender in the centre, and we need a striker to compete with Jackson then we can challenge. Imo if Lavia is fit he should start ahead of Enzo.
