36:06 A correction I work at Harman & our team has designed the audio system for this car. Let me clarify, usually when you work with an OEM, you struggle to find places where you could install your stuff - In this case, finding the right places & angles to position the speaker. Ãnd then convince the OEM to build their parts around it. I'm happy that what Harman & Mahindra has done with the audio system of BE6 & XEV 9e at this price, no other car offers the same audio quality functionality. It came close to a BMW car worth 2cr when we benchmarked it. When an OEM trusts a brand & supports it, this is the wonders that they can both create.

Any updates you may want to share on when we can expect an engine sound generator for forthcoming and existing EVs please? Increasingly, badly need one, for speeds up to about 25-30kmph please, as well as reversing. Many thanks.
@ajsuraj14 сағат бұрын
@@malikveeresh6751 It's called AVAS but we did not work on it. But as far as I checked, it has a AVAS speaker for generating external sounds till around 40kmph after which it fades out. 9e has an external speaker around the frunk area for creating engine sounds.
@malikveeresh675114 сағат бұрын
@@ajsuraj - yup, thanks, AVAS. Many moons ago, when rear engine buses were re-introduced on Indian roads, some of the owners/operators had installed simple speakers in front near the driver's cabin, connected to wired microphones near the engine bay. Many drivers, even today, "drive by ear" and not just for gear changes, but also when going on gradients. "Engine gaadi se aage daud raahaa hai" was something I myself used to teach trailer truck drivers when going down-hill; it was all by ear, at that juncture, moving your eyes off the road to read the tachometer is not an option. So EGS or Engine Sound Generator linked to RPM and load on actual engine vs AVAS Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System which may or may not be linked to RPM and load on actual engine. I have driven loaded EV buses, full of passenger and ambient noises, and certainly want to hear the sound of acceleration as well as ReGen braking and effect on RPM. If possible, I also want to not just feel the shudder but also hear the slight conflict between ABS and ReGen at maximum in an EV (car or HTV). Please try and factor these inputs in? A car full of people talking & listening to loud thumpa-thumpa music and an EGS/AVAS.

like tata is doing with their acti.ev showrooms, and it is working for it, tata evs are now selling more than grand vitaras speced with strong hybrid
@malikveeresh675114 сағат бұрын
More than showrooms, it is dedicated workshops, instead of mixed. Reality is that incomes and commissions are basis invoice raised, lubricants sold, etcetc. In an EV, the invoice for service is the lowest possible of all variants, so it is not a popular choice at mixed workshops. In addition, not everyone CAN drive an EV properly/safely especially in a restricted space, and most everyone in a mixed workshop from the guard to the tea-serving person WANTS to drive an EV. In many workshops, an EV is still an evolving novelty. I give two examples - 1) entering my own garage in a Nexon EV, front first, there is a small 2"/3" rise from grass/soil to cement floor. The front power wheels roll over it without any fuss, but if I take my foot off the accelerator pedal, then the car simply gets stuck on the rear wheels at this little rise. So I have to nudge the pedal a bit, and be ready to hit foot brake and/or hand brake as the car lurches forward, and so I have now also placed a couple of old tyres as fenders. I can do the same routine in the older and much less powerful 2013/WagonR without any issues. 2) asked by the top honchos of a soon to be sold mass market range of EVs how far I would go, typically, for after-sales and service, my response was that if self-drive, then easily 50kms and if not, the EV was going to travel on a flat-bed anyways, right? And outskirts of town automobile workshops usually get the best mechanics - because that is where most of them live. Range anxiety, home charging infra, highway public charging - all these are not as important, in the opinion of EV owners I connect with, including especially fleet operators serving the many IT companies in BLR, as are dedicated workshops. And none of the manufacturers appear to be serious about this. So far.

Correction: All cars come with Portable chargers (they are EVSE) actual chargers are built in the vehicle. The good thing is BE6 has 11kW on board. However, the portable chargers max support is 2kW to 2.6kW using the 16amp plug. Now to top up 79kWh isn't possible overnight as it will take at least 30-40 Hours to full charge from 0-100%.

In Malayalam, Ola means the leaves of the coconut tree. Ola has been an important part of Keralites’ lives. In the old days, we used Ola to make house roofs, walls, and flooring. It was also used as a compound wall. When Ola becomes dry, it is the best material to start a fire. (I think even Ola ev has a lot of inspiration from the real dry Ola.) We used it as a torch at night by burning tied bundles of Ola. In the kitchen, we used it to create fire in the stove and cook food.

Access to such power to a common man (Context: our driving ettiquete) is a very serious concern. I completely agree with what Shumi and karthikeya feel about this. Yes, Mahindra is showcasing their engineering and value prowess, but in a place where even 390's power has caused issues, I don't know what horror stories are yet to unfold with the 6. Its common with certain type of people to misuse things like ADAS and now with some serious power at tap, it honestly scares me. Biggest part of all this comes from how licenses are issued in our country, then there is "get out of jail" card that money and influence brings, with absolutely no consequences whatsoever, aside from essays of course. This aside, I know 6 is a fantastic product, what Karthikeya missed speaking about is the auto-park function, which is impressive, though parking is something i really enjoy doing myself. May be it will be in 9E episode I assume.

All this talk about Pratap Bose being so great but why would someone as prolific as him design a car whose back seat is so impractical? And why do Mahindra keep coming up with a new logo every year that somehow looks worse?
@motorincКүн бұрын
Form has taken precedence over function. And that battery pack is getting in the way of creating more comfortable backseats.
@ub678Күн бұрын
My 2 cents - EVs aren't limited to ICE designs anymore. They can take a design life of themselves. So there will be hits and misses. I'm all in for an experiment. Even though it will not be for me. Logo - EVs are a new gold mine that everyone wants to make their future fortunes from. I can understand why they'd want to build a future brand which stands out as premium/future. This is only the beginning in this space. Maybe after a decade you'd see maturity in the market where everything will be much more stable.
@PrayanshAlurkarКүн бұрын
They could have made the roof just a bit larger at the back compromising a bit on aerodynamics....just a 5 inches or more of headspace would have been sufficient
@sundarsubramaniam7274Күн бұрын
@@ub678 You say EVs aren't limited by ICE designs but because the batteries are on the underside, they come with the inherent compromise of a high floor and poor seating position. This means they will have to make the seats and roof higher to make up for that, which they don't seem to have done, probably because that would change the driving dynamics of the car. Besides, the coupe design by itself comes with the disadvantages of poor headroom and small window size.

@@keshavsakthi546 jawa and yezdi are not their own bikes. Those are british companies I presume.

@@saptarshiadhikary3736 they used to be europan brands but the brands died. Mahindra licensed the rights for both the brands and developed motorcycles from their mojo 300 motorcycle, even though the name might be jawa, yezdi or BSA. The motorcycles themselves are completely Indian

Love this, y'all! A bit of constructive feedback, I see what y'all are doing with the text on screen-but since it doesn’t highlight the words in sync with what is being said because it isn’t an exact quote, it just becomes distracting and takes away from an otherwise excellent experience. As a user/viewer, I’m used to synced text aligning with what’s being sung or spoken, so trying to focus on those words while focusing on your voice increases cognitive overload. Hope this helps!

Mahindra must have seperate showrooms or none like tesla for BE evs..... Waiting to comare between be 6 vs harrier ev awd. wating to see BE even harrier ev in person. Velusamy and rest did a great job in presentation, explaining. Karthik explained well

Tata started ev dealers after selling 200k EVs I’d say there’s still some years before we see a Mahindra EV sales and service separate from ice
@ReddylionКүн бұрын
@7567_Rex not necessary to repeat what tata did. Tata made Tiago. Nexon ev etc but Mahindra be is world class EVs. My opinion is better seperate be etc high tech EVs from ICE.lets see.

Brake by wire uses IEB - Integrated Electronic Booster which reduces brake drag and it can be tuned as per user desire but needs case by case adjustment which is not easy. But doable. And the Suspension uses semi active damper. Which uses camera and displacement sensors to adjust it dynamically and also changes sensitivity based on modes. Steering uses VGR variable gear ratio and it has max TURNING - the wheels expose pinion and ecen the interiors as it turns extremely. And the steerng is powered by a 1500w BLAC motor.

The last thing Shumi said about using BE 6 safely is of utmost importance! Thar has become something parallels with what KTMs are for bikes. Unfortunately, underprivileged people (who don't own Thars/KTMs) judge the one's driving these with the vehicles and not with their skills. Common man just give way to Thar and it's not because they respect/admire it, it's just that the one driving it, they don't want to trust. On a serious note though, these perceptions are real and they are there for a reason. Have been on a receiving end, when I was little late to drop my daughter to school and overtook a Thar that was just ambling along on the road. That guy couldn't digest that a humble family hatchback with 1.2L NA has passed him, he was quick to violently accelerate and overtake, that's when I realized that it was a Thar... 🤦

As working in an EV based startup I like to confirm this ev is priced Extremely competitive, literally it's impossible for any OEM to give such value proposition, just take base varient of be6, the actual component coat at OEM level would be around 21-22lakhs, and Mahindra is launching it at 19,that too giving dealer margins, transportation costs, warranty and other services it's just mind boggling
