Mahindra XUV 3XO First Impressions | S02E21

Guys I booked the 3X0 AX5 PT MT after reviewing all the competitors and visiting and test driving them from the showroom. My first glance at the car was from the rear and the interior, booth looks and feels amazing when I moved into the front I almost made a choice not to get this one. I was moving more towards Sonet cz of the looks it offered. After about a week, one day while riding back home from work I saw the 3XO in flesh at the highway coming from the opposite direction, it was around evening and the sun was about to set but still there was enough daylight. Man! that look of the car in the highway changed my mind completely. The front actually looks damn good. Immediately after that I saw another 3X0 and it looked even prettier. The reason being why people are not finding this car good looking enough is because our eyes are not used to this kind of design language. Venue, Nexon, Sonet, Brezza has identical looks and that is what our eyes are used to look at. Once this car starts rolling out from the showroom and people gets used to its looks, I'm sure this car will eat up all it's competitors because this actually looks very good from the front. People who are wanting to buy this car but are skeptical about the looks I would suggest them to wait and check the car out on highways or in your locality, I'm sure you will like this car after seeing it 3-4 times.

How is your experience as an owner now? When I tried the manual during a test drive, the lack of a dead pedal and the cramped space around the clutch made it very uncomfortable, even during a 10km ride. My feet kept hitting the bottom end of the center console.

@@SpaceTruckin Purchasing the 3XO has been the best decision of my life, the power and driving dynamics feels amazing. I never felt the need of a dead pedal as I have the habit of diving some of the old manual cars without power steetring :D I'm 5'11 and I felt the same issue as hitting the centre console but I would suggest adjusting the seat as per your height. This will make you feel better and I never no complaints now as far as the sitting is concerned. The car has magical suspensions, on high speed it becomes stiff and on bad road it handles very well. All in all this car is the VFM in this segments in terms of power, comfort & enthusiasm. All that you need to enjoy you car in the long run. Mileage is a thing where you need to be little careful about but I have no complaints whatsoever. The car makes me feel good and that's what is important also never felt any lack in features. I got the AX5 PT MT

Hey guys. I had a chance to test drive the base turbo petrol with the TC automatic gearbox in Bangalore at Sireesh Auto. A friend of mine made an early booking for the car and I drove the car a couple of times around the showroom. My impressions are as follows: 1. The engine is refined, cabin noise is minimal. 2. The steering is light and easy to manoeuvre in the city. The max speed I could reach was 60 Km/h, so I don't have an opinion about the steering at high speeds. 3. The TC is quite smooth, but the gearshifts are slow if you are used to faster shifting gearboxes. But that being said, it does a good job for the type of car the 3XO is. It does not have a very aggressive 'creep' from standstill (unlike the VW 1.0 TSI cars with the TC gearbox). I came away very impressed after the test drive. I drove the AX5 variant for reference.

@@motorinc Yes. I wish Mahindra considers providing the base turbo petrol with the top (AX5L, AX7 and AX7L) models as well. But then we'd come very close to the ridiculous number of variants that Tata offers with the Nexon 😉!

Prev gen TGDi Owner here. 130hp + 6 speed manual is a gem. I'm guessing M&M gave TGDi with TC only to journalists to promote the new engine + gearbox combo. A little more feedback in the steering would make me forget the already mostly out of mind ancient interiors, but the new 3xo takes care of that (interiors and hopefully the steering) I guess. The "shunt" when the turbo kicks in is real. Real hard to get started from a standstill in second. 1st gear too jerky for stop and go traffic. Prev gen didn't have ADAS and the parking sensors aren't that touchy so hopefully M&M fixes it in the final production run. Haven't tested the new one but 10/10 recommend TGDi + 6-speed manual from current experience and what I see of the new car. Everything has flaws, be cognizant of what you can live with 😉

Service: Even a metro like Chennai has only 2-3 service centers and I have to make two trips to the other side of the city to drop it off and collect it back. Good quality service but quantity is missing. And because of this their personnel are often too busy for a home pickup-drop no matter how much you're willing to pay for it

As an owner of the previous version (2021 Diesel base model) I am extremely happy that Mahindra decided to finally give a facelift that is worth considering for many others as well. I've been driving the car for almost 3 years now and I can confidently say that it is one of the best highway cars out there and the amazing combination of great fuel efficiency (around 21 kmpl) while cruising at 95-105 kmph is too damn good to ignore. The suspension I feel is one of the best in the segment and just like you guys said, the seats are very comfortable and you won't feel tired even after a full day of driving. The boot space was never a problem for me as we usually travel light but we did go to Goa for a 5-day trip with 5 on board and their luggage, and we did not feel like we were lacking space. Of course, we had to plan the positioning of the baggages which some might feel is a pain but considering that 3 of them at the back seat were able to sit comfortably for the entire 1600kms over 4 days I would say it is worth it. Overall a great car but not for someone who carries a lot of baggage 😉

Hi Gautam, I like the xuv and it is at the top of my shortlist. But I'm thinking between the T-GDI and the diesel. Regarding the diesel, 1. How is its power? Is it adequate or is it properly powerful? In case if you have driven the 130 hp petrol xuv, how close to it does the diesel come? 2. Does the xuv diesel come with the ad-blu tank? And is there anything else apart from ad-blu to keep in mind? 3. Ever since the first launch of the xuv300, I always thought its boot was more of a minor inconvenience than a deal breaker... good to see that is the actual case. If it can take 5 people's 4days' luggage, I'm not even thinking about it anymore. So, Thank you for mentioning that, fuel efficiency and highway manners. If possible elaborate/give any key details/highlights on its highway manners, if something stands out. Cheers!

When I bought my Ford Ecosport, I also went to the Mahindra showroom, which is within walking distance from my home, to look at the Bolero Neo and the XUV 300. I went there twice, but they didn't have either car available for a test drive, and they didn't seem interested in making a sale. In my experience, Mahindra and Tata have the worst showroom experiences.

same story in Noida. Couple of years back when I went to check out the 300. One feels unwanted in M&M showrooms. Huge difference from other cos like Toyota, Honda MG or even Maruti and Tata. Been thinking of buying 700x5 or the top end automatic versions of elevate/ Creta/ Seltos/Hyrider etc.

Ohh I had a similar experience. I too bought the Ecosport. I remember they gave me a Thar to test which wasn't a test vehicle and it got stuck in 3rd gear. The showroom guys told me that they will repair it and give it to me 😮 Mahindra service is at par with Tata service in terms of poor service and bad attitude.

Just planning to get the XUV 3XO AX5 variant. Gets everything I can ask for in my budget. The engine is great, even the base 1.2L petrol, it has decent ground clearance and gets the job done since I’ll mostly have a second passenger and no more than that. The interiors feel good, although they come with an inherent risk of getting dirty. The technology offered is decent, but Mahindra ADAS systems aren’t the most refined in 3XO. If you want a buy it, ride it and forget the rest car, this is for you especially if you only plan to use the first two seats. Extremely comfortable, yet classy enough especially in Black, White, Red and I like the Forest Green as well.

From my family experiences with Mahindra have not been that great, my elder brother got the XUV 700 automatic, has had his front suspension, gearbox, clutch all replaced in first 4 months, yes all under warranty, but that is just bad engineering. Sold it and got a black harrier, 15000 km so far not many issues at all. My brother in law, got the XUV 300, clutch burnt out, gearbox changed twice, under warranty, in first 3 months. Man the QC at Mahindra is horrible. Not gonna recommend any Mahindra to anyone because even after paying more at delivery than booking price, waiting months on end, is this what Mahindra gives it's customers, they just suck plainly. I have the 2022 Safari, other than a vibration issue which has been fixed, the vehicle just glides through everything. Love it so much.

From what I've seen on team bhp both tata Mahindra are very risky options, Mahindra being the better option though. Tata is sometimes a nightmare to own. Also shows the need for Indian manufacturers to improve QC and service to the level of the Japanese and the Koreans

It's really bad that something like that had to happen for not one but two Mahindra products and I can understand your frustration buddy but I would like to only say that not everyone would have had the same experience as yours. I'm only giving my example as in our family we had 2 Mahindra Commander Jeep(not at the same time), then a 2008 Scorpio, and now own a 2021 XUV300 diesel. Yes we did face a few issues with the vehicles but nothing that couldn't be fixed by the Mahindra service centre. We really had and are having a great time with Mahindra products and I would definitely recommend Mahindra to everyone but also state the fact that no vehicle is perfect. We had a VW Polo as well which gave us hell and ended up selling it as soon as possible but doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend any VW car to anyone. As I said, I understand your frustration but not everyone faces the same issue always.

To me this facelifted car perfectly makes sense for people who are looking for a unique looking sub 4m SUV and doesn't want to be a drop of rain in the ocean of Sonets, Venues and the Nexons. Not gonna lie, this doesn't look as bad in person.

Excellent work Karthi & Shumi 👍 A small tip regarding AC you have mentioned. The AC works in tandem with the exterior temperature shown in the cluster. If the cluster displays 22 degrees Celsius and you set the AC to 22 degrees, it will be hot inside. But if the exterior climate shown in the instrument cluster is 36 degrees Celsius, even if you set the car's AC to 26 degrees, it will feel very cool inside. So to maintain a comfortable temperature, try setting the AC temperature 3 to 5 degrees lower than the exterior temperature shown in the cluster. "Strange enough" 😂, but as an XUV3OO user completing just one year, these self-identified tips may help new users."

@@motorincbeen two months. Mind you I didn't know how to drive a car before this, being a hardcore biker, road sense was there for sure in me. 21 days (including driving classes) am driving this. Loving it. Nickels are there in it sprinkled mercilessly but yet, the drive is amazing. Overtaking is fun. Even in roads like Bengaluru has, the pot holes are easily passable and picking up the car from lower gear again and getting up to speed is fun. The indicator noise can be dealt with one specific chime and reducing the volume, then you won't even notice it. Rest, put seat belt clips at back, doesn't annoys you with seat belt notifications. Boot space is a fine for a small family. Mileage is an issue, 11kmpl in bumper to bumper traffic, but hey I am not complaining as turbo charge engines aren't made for mileage, they are made for your driving experience. Overall, fun car. Cheers!

But as pointed out by an XUV300 owner, its not an issue. The AC works in tandem with the outside temperature. So if outside temp is 24 and AC temp is also 24, it will not feel cool. And if outside temp is 36 and AC is 24, it will feel very cool. And the tip is to set the AC temp 3-5 degrees lower than the outside temp shown on the instrument cluster.

Xuv300 is the nearest one could get in here a fast vehicle which can go over portholes basically a budget performance vehicle. I have one but as always xuv300 turbo sports came a year later which is my preferred model. The next car which i will buy have to be between xuv300 to creta size has the speed and ground clearance to do all. I am currently waiting for curve.

I test drove 3xo, hyryder and elevate. Guess who wins with most ticks it's 3xo. They some how won my heart with their long list of features, just unbeatable and can't be ignored. Mind you, it remind me of xuv700 in many ways. I loves it's comfort, handling, confidence, feels so alive and fun. I don't wanna try creta for those extra tons of rupees.

You should definitely drive the Creta CVT. That would be our first pick. Do let us know if you have any queries. If you try the 3XO - please try the base engine. We hope it will be easier to drive in the city than the 130PS engine.

12:12 this is an issue that I still face with my XUV 700 which is a 2023 model. Car is excellent to drive but the screen is a hot mess sometimes. It won’t boot up which will result in MID Screen also crashing. I have to turn off my car , get out , lock it , wait for 5 minutes , unlock the car & then start it. This is not a frequent issue and does happen once every 20 odd days but yes it does need to be addressed. As for the camera being laggy , xuv 700 had the same issue earlier but it has been smoothened out with latest updates. Other than this XUV is a joy to drive.

When I bought the CRETA way back in 2015 ... similar feedback on inconsistencies in electronics made me decide against a XUV 500 even though I wanted the XUV 500 badly. Good to hear the comparisons with the Magnite...I am also driving a Magnite CVT turbo and love it...nevertheless impressed with the XUV 3XO a lot

Amazing discussion as always. I'm always a 100% motorcycle loving guy but 1st time got excited becoz of this 3x0. I've seen the previous model and the acceleration is just crazy. Recently some KZbin channels have been reviewing the NX500, Vstrom 800DE, Transalp. Couldn't find anything interesting from those reviewers. My family and I are looking for a new car. The 3x0 peeked our interest and we decided to check it out. The standout was easily the space in the rear seats and the quality. I also liked the design. However wasnt able to take it on a test drive due how busy it was. Then we decided to check out maruti since it was literally next door. We checked out three cars (brezza, ertiga and wagon r) surprisingly the brezza was the least spacious inside even compared to the wagon r 😂.

Well, Karthikeya never got to speak about the ADAS features. He was going to breach the point but then the discussion got diverted to braking power and never came back to this point. I think Karthikeya mentioned this doesn't get panaromic sunroof, but I thought it did as a first in segment. I have checked it on their website as well and it does get it. I am Spotify listener and come here to comment. While I am very happy to see First impressions and This Connect on Spotify, I wanted to ask you guys if you can get Balance and View also on Spotify so that at least I can get so much more to listen to while I am driving. Hi @BhaskaraVenkatesh! Kartikeya is of the opinion that no ADAS in India is currently worth paying for as they're not yet optimised for the chaotic nature of our traffic. The XUV 3XO doesn't get a panoramic sunroof. What it has is a dual-pane sunroof which is a different thing. We consider MotorInc First and ThisConnect podcasts and that's why they're available elsewhere but View and Balance Episodes are meant to only be watched so they'll remain an KZbin exclusive.

Tgdi on paper is a great theory for smoother engines, refined and good mileage engines. But the only issue with them is they are high pressure engines which can cause a lot of issues in future like oil burning issues. Carbon deposits getting formed at piston chamber. And seals in the engine might melt down . Its a proven thing for hyundai, vw which uses almost the same technology and even for kia too.

I booked AX5L on 26th last week, they informed AX5 will take 1 month, AX5L will take 1.5 to 2 months officially, but practically it may come earlier. The showroom had Nebula Blue colour parked, which looked very good. I guess the darker colours look much better because it merges with black colour cladding. I chose this because I am 6'2" tall, so leg room is practically more than enough and headroom is better than Nexon even with sunroof.

I am a XUV400 user. When I first noticed XUV3XO in vedios I thought 300 and 400 looks so much better and 3XO looks soo ugly but Mahindra showroom from where I bought my 400 gave me an invitation for thir unveiling of the car. Being truthful When I saw it in real I felt broke😅. 3XO is the best looking car in real life.❤❤

Initially hated the way this car looked when it was launched, but after a while I started liking it to the point now that it won't affect my buying dicision. Though these annoying electronic bugs are a let down and should've been fixed and perfected since they've already existed in 7OO for some time now. Ventilated seat is a big miss especially in this blazing hot weather. Overall its ineldeed a consideration among other options in this price range. Amazingly done video... I can spend 'X' amount of time watching this over and over 🤧

This new design looks great. Its catchy for sure. You discussed about paddle shifters, but those who buys automatics hardly have sense about using paddle shifters. Or else they are just buttons behind the wheel. So paddle shifters for such engines is not much a necessity. For big engines we can some what understand but people do not use paddle shifters that often.

Don’t really see what size of engine and paddle shifters have to do. Some engines require more inputs from the driver. And in this we felt it was needed.

Hi Motorinc, please include the variant details in upcoming videos. The lower variants seem really good value considering the fact that the car is safe, fast, and spacious. Oh, and for the ones who would want to shove their kids up the sunroof, all variants but the base get it. However, the funny thing is, rear wipers still cost more than sunroofs in India! 😛 Also, understood from the video, that some variants have an option to set how an alert would sound? Seriously? In this segment? We need to forget that cars are not cellphones! Few years down the line, manufacturers might just allow users to set songs for these alerts. We’ve anyway had generous use of the Dhoom title track. This would just be an extension. Crazy times.

I took the test ride today Even though the engine is good and rear space is great I did not like the under thigh support was bad and the seats werenot firm and the way the interiors were done is bit cheap The biggest con was all the bells and whistles were reserved to 7l and the price on road in hyd is close to 20 lakhs which makes no sense for a sub 4 car 😢 I found the Sonet much more comfortable even though I am loosing out on some space at eh rear ( under thigh support is good )

I agree with Mahindra Petrol is always in a hurry to plunge like a racehorse. I drive an XUV700 petrol manual and it is better suited for highway cruising. My experience with the Mahindra showroom was hassle-free, but agree with hit-or-miss reviews about current-gen vehicles having smaller niggles. Nexon was on the list but a fellow Tata owner was eager to sell his altroz citing a lack of parts, issues in warranty, and total miss in multiple Tata showrooms.
