MAHINDRA KAROO S10 D/CAB Experience in NAMIBIA

At first we were skeptical to buy a Mahindra Karoo but were pleasantly surprised by the luxury of the vehicle inside, all the adjustments with regards to the automatic lights, wipers and climate control, the seating comfort and high roof above your head. A tall person can get in and out with ease and not hit his head on the roof.
The seat height and shape definitely contribute to a person being able to ride long distances without getting tired. The backseat is also comfortable for adults with sufficient room for their legs and feet.
The second plus point is definitely the power output and fuel consumption. The vehicle responds immediately when you step on the pedal.
The vehicle can also carry a heavy load with ease and does not become top heavy. Road holding ability on the dirt road is excellent.
The ONLY negatives are the lack of adequate cub-holders in the front & back. Secondly, the back cushion of the rear seat is fixed which cannot be lowered for additional storing space for valuables like laptops, cameras and accessories. And thirdly, the tail-flap's design can be improved to close the open gaps between the flap and body, to reduce dust from getting inside the canopy.
Our 4 x 4 experience was quite enjoyable and the vehicle was able to overcome large rocks and ditches with ease. The automatic locking of the diff-lock makes it much easier without having to take your attention away from the road or terrain.
Although we drove far and long hours every day, we were totally surprised how the landscape changed so quickly between the mountains, flat terrains, empty plains and absolutely nothing to see. Just being able to stop anywhere, swing out the awning, take out the camping chairs and gas stove to enjoy a cup of coffee was a bonus. We even just pulled into a dry riverbed to set up camp for one night.
We have had no vehicle problems and not even a flat tyre.
The GENERAL GRABBER A/T which has the same specifications as the BFGoodrich A/T, performed very well. This is DEFINITELY an UNDERESTIMATED tyre.
A total distance of 5870 km was covered in 16 days with an average fuel consumption of 8.78km/l.
