@@vijithsreevalsam7979 it can be easily achieved in any gate or door by slightly shifting the axis of the two hinges from the vertical alignment, the two remain on same axis but that axis is slightly tilted forward and inwards. Similar to refrigerators. It can be achieved with gas struts as well but that is not the case here. I would have preferred an option of rear door opening like Honda element. Lower half falling down rather than swinging out. And upper half going up. That can make a deck to sip tea on a beachside or on mountains of Himalayas. :)

I did 3 20 hours plus drive on my manual XUV300 (Jog falls and return 22 hours, Kanyakumari to Navi Mumbai 24 hours, Kozhikode to Navi Mumbai in about 17-18 hours flat) that has heavy steering, no dead pedal and of course a manual gearbox.. never felt tired.. guess, it's the love!

The MX1 is the lower state of tune. Otherwise 4x4 & 4x2 are same state of tune

We test drove the Thar 3 door again after buying Scorpio N as primary. And My God! The 3 door sucks so bad, we wanted to replace our i20 and thought petrol automatic rwd would suit us best, I’ve never been more disappointed in life, not even by my ex.

The 3 door is my best and worst car at the same time. No practicality, no comfort, no stability. But the feel you get driving it, the lack worry of taking it on the worst of roads not worrying about breaking down, it’s the most characterful car I own

Yes, I understand, I was needlessly too critical but as un6250 pointed out as well, it is for some the best and the worst, we have had been long term Mahindra buyers, Scorpio 2010, XUV500 in 2015 and then Scorpio N in 2024, we love Mahindra but for Thar 3 door perhaps we had set our expectations unrealistically high and wanted it to do everything which it wasn’t built for. Would be great if you can get a thar convertible softop to compare with Roxx and highlight differences

The acceleration should be done in sea level track as at Pune that ambient pressure is lower. Also the ambient temperature effects the air viscosity hence the time also.

I am from Kerala and have lived in the USA for the past 40 years. I do regularly visit Kerala and have a Hyundai Creta and a Mahindra pick up in India. I have been looking to buy another vehicle but I am not willing to pay 3 times the price for global brands in India. The Thar Roxx has all the features that you would expect in a modern non luxury vehicle. I saw your review where you extol its acceleration. Around 12 seconds is extremely sluggish for 0 to 100. Most modern vehicles including run of the mill sedans are sub 8 seconds with most in the 6.5 to 7.5 second range. In 12 seconds most would hit 140. Also if you compare to 4 wheel drive SUVs it is under powered. Most are 275 to 375 Hp. India has modern highways now. So why is not made to have better performance. Other than the power and performance it seems to be a good vehicle.

Please also factor in the tax on vehicles, cost of fuel between India and US. Building vehicles with big engines and more horse power does not make commercial sense for a vehicle manufacturer in India.

@@destyspotThe fuel price where I am in the USA is Rs.102 per litre for petrol. It is cheaper in some other states. So fuel prices are not very different. Taxes are much lower on new cars here. The only tax is local sales tax of around 10%. I saw a video on KZbin where a person was calculating tax on a Fortuner in India. He said what Toyota gets is around 25 lakhs out of a selling price of 65 lakhs. If true, the taxes are extremely high. The Fortuner is not sold here. It will not sell here.

The only thing I wish mahindra did differently was choice of interior color. They should have provided a darker shade interior (not black any darker shade) at least in the 4x4 version, at least as an option. I understand this is supposed to woo the 'luxury' minded customers in the price range, but when there is a 4x4 variant on offer, and its a Thar at heart, I am sure a lot more people would want to take it offroad.

Every KZbinr is really fascinated by this product and turning every stone touched to ensure that the mass audience get attracted to it however hardly any KZbinr raised the areas of opportunities in this product. Indeed it’s a huge upgrade from existing three door Thar in terms of comfort and features but what about other factors, Obviously this product is less off roading oriented as compared to existing one because of but obvious shorter wheel base but none of them raised the point of dead mileage of this vehicle. People spending around 20 lakhs have already better options when it comes to comfort, mileage and features. And just look the way they are sidelining the existing thar highlighting its areas of concerns and same KZbinrs were non stop praising the three door thar when it got launched. Most of the KZbinrs are literally Mahindra’s puppets. Now every KZbinr is getting crazy for this new product highlighting its features and other aspect sidelining the interior colors, mileage, and comfort. Bhai gajab ka double standards hai in sab ka PS - I own three door Thar and XUV300 so I know Mahindra is great in making products but sucks in service and other post selling factors.

It has nice features that is comparable to non luxury international brands. However, it is under powered and very sluggish comparatively. Most international brands have engines that start at about 275 Hp and acceleration times of sub 8 seconds for 0 to 100. An example is the Ford Bronco. In the 11.5 most would hit 140. So I am a bit surprised that the review extols its power and acceleration. India has modern highways now and so I do not understand why the SUVS do not have better engines.

When I was a child in India the cars were Fords, Chevrolets, Studebaker, Hillman, Vauxhall, Hindustan, Herald, Fiat, and other imports I cannot remember. I learnt to drive in an Ambasssdor in the early 70’s. The Ambassador was 14HP is my recollection. The Indian car industry has come a long way since then. Today sub compacts such as the Creta are mainstream. I know these are called mid size in India. Internationally mid size would be a BMW X5 or Volvo XC 90. Highways such as the Pune Bombay are world class. So over time Indian manufacturers will probably upgrade their engines. But first there needs to be a driver reeducation drive to teach people proper driving etiquette and skills. When I learnt to drive in India people followed the rules but now it is organized chaos as Sebastian Vettel said.

please advise on equipping my Thar 4WD 3-Dr with a proper 3.0 in. suspension lift & 33.5 in. A/T radial tyres . . . please note I'm not talking about the ever so deceptive spacer lift . . . the Thar Roxx 4WD 5-Dr looks more like some cheap aftermarket conversion from 3-Dr to 5-Dr SUV & one that has been very undedicatedly put together, a hastily decided afterthought . . . something's seriously wrong with Mahindra . . . remember the Mahindra Armada 4WD 5-Dr SUV & Marshal 4WD SUV . . . now that's what you call a true Mahindra 5-Dr SUV . . . the Thar 4WD 3-Dr simply don't fit in with the 5-Dr realm . . . like the Gypsy 4WD 3-Dr SUV that was never meant to be in the 5-Dr SUV arena . . . yes, i know back then Gypsy 4WD 3-Dr variant were shoddily converted into a 5-Dr by the aftermarket of the 1990s . . . and we all know what the result was . . .

anyone else here feels- the design sucks ?! theyve taken a beautiful 3door car and fucked it up ! and i have no idea why all reviewers, everyone on social media are going gaga over it.. just don’t get it.. the c pillar and the triangular window in particular is an eyesore. if the current 3door thar were to be extended ‘naturally’ it would look like the jeep rubicon.. but i am guessing that wouldn’t fare very well in courts .. so they had to make it different.. and in that process they seemed to-have gotten it wrong

The ugly roofline, the ugly c pillar , the ugly rear window is what makes the roxx different from the handsome looking 3door thar. Oh !!! Don't forget the white interior too . As a car enthusiast I was waiting for the 5door to be more sophisticated and good looking but it turned out ugly . A local body shop Mistry will do a better work .

Can you drive the car at 120 to 140 all the way in highway... Will it be easy anywhere near creta.. and efficiency is it near creta at those speeds..

@@evoIndia i won’t but sometimes to feel the car you do knowingly or unknowingly.. still can you do daily in car when your monthly drive is 15k kms… what’s the efficiency of car when you are hard on peddle… no matter how hard u drive in Creta or seltos you won’t get less then 12 kmpl (diesel)…
