I prefer the Thar in it's 3-Door version. I travel alone most of the time and I don't enjoy company much. The Thar is perfect 👍🏼❤️

In Goa I hired a brand new Thar. After driving for few hours, we were stuck, the ignition key wouldn't turn. The key was poor quality and had bent. I twisted it back an finally managed to start the Thar. Hope M&M have used good quality material in this new Thar.

Thar checks so many boxes. It's nearly a Wrangler you can afford. It has sports car like rear seats which can be used if you really wanted to. It's not bad just a tad bouncy so you can really Shake that Thing (sean paul said it) And it's certainly the dream suv which you will CERTAINLY TAKE OFF ROADING THE NEXT WEEKEND. do i love it? Yes. Will i buy it? After i get a raise (seriously, otherwise i might need to live in it as well) What does it mean to me? Freedom. No need to care bout roads or rain. Just go where you want to go whenever you want to. Valar Driveris?!! :) Awesome review guys. N i like this new short multiple reviews rather than a large one. I really want to get one for my family . But since there are ladies in my family who wear saree most of the times , it would be really difficult for them to go to the back seat . Awesome review dude. But i think there was some problem with the audio. It was not very clear. i had to use subtitles to decipher what you were saying most of the time. Am already picturing the red one with the jeep grille fitted. hope it comes for less than 15-16 on road for top end automatic, atleast introductory. Any comments on how the soft top convertible withstood the rain. Does it leak inside? Since you mentioned the hard top is not removable, soft top convertible seems to be my best option.

Let me give a practicality example of this vehicle's previous gen model as per my experience: Me and my brother with our Thar were going outside for a ride ..and met our friend around and he wants to join with us in the ride Friend : How could I get in? Me : open the back door and get in (it is a hardtop version) Friend: okay opened the back door but half opened what's the rest ? Me : also open the back wind shield putting your hand inside and lift the knob Friend : okay did it and entered inside Me : close the door .. close the windshield first and then shut the below door .. Friend :okay but I cannot reach the door and also it's heavy weight please could you please help me closing the door?(door is heavy weighted because of the attached heavy tire) Me : wait I'm coming, (me getting off from the vehicle and going back and shutting the door 😂 and back to my seat. Most of the time driver needs to get off and needs to help to open the back dual doors of the Thar.. This is the big con we experienced several times with our previous gen Thar and we sold it and bought a Polo.. Look,if it were in a normal 5 door car, then it would have been very very easy in such scenarios And con No :2 : Fuel filling , at fuel station you have to remove your key and give it to the guy and tell : open the fuel lid with this key😊 There is no any switch to open the fuel lid from the inside for this 10lakh+ vehicle 😂 (case is same in the new version too)

This one is Brute description- Thar version 2.0 is the most anticipated SUV vehicle in the indian off road community from the Mahindra stable. There was lots of speculations too on the design n overall looks based on the spy shots of camouflage thar , which was spotted at multiple times and Boom ! On 15 August 2020 the all new Thar was showcased. The Mahindra team was working since few years on the new Thar and they sculpted out an improved Beast too👍...but but it's all my opinion that it seemed like although the Mahindra team took years to sketch out the new Thar, they failed to sketch out few areas or aspects. When every indian vehicle is having beautiful projector headlamp with spectacular DRLs , the much anticipated uncrowned king of off road trips was striped out of such beauty n it was given out dated halogens😑..the engineering team worked hard to make the new Thar a more wider one but on the same thought pillar they forgot to add few inches of length to it, n it resulted in a very tight tail compartment, although haven't seen in person but cud easily make out from vids n shots on net. Don't know how much it saved the company but who ever will go off road or on trip will surely carry some stuff along with the favoured company of his or her choice🙄..it seemed like the designing team of Mahindra stable was suddenly under some pressure n under such circumstances like a pressurized student in an exam who forgot to cover all questions , leaving a few ones , the team also left few aspects like the back compartment. The back seats were placed in such haphazard manner that they lost the basic symmetry of seats🙄. The back seat occupants can't fit their legs straight under the seat space of the front ones..phew.. a vehicle meant for long tough terrains with such arrangements, little comfort for the backbenchers 🙄..even the space of both sides of the back seats seemed like left out with only a cover of some thick clothe. If one look at the old Thar's modification works done by several mod houses there also they can find better ergonomical utilisation of space with the front facing seatings. The most important left out point is the mechanism of entering n coming out of back seats, it seemed like the tech team never tried their mechanism even once, otherwise they wud have surely kept the door a bit wider one or they wud have installed the multi step folding mechanism to make the back seat occupants journey a bit comfortable 😓. These were the few points that I found as the loose points where the tech team of Mahindra stable lost the marks in this job😑. I know this might not go down well with lots of ppl but I was too waiting for the New Thar, but found it a bit showcased in some what hurry without even taking a personal view.🙏

Mahindra Thar 2020 has managed to generate a whole lot of buzz since it was first unveiled on August 15. Now while the Thar has always been renowned for how it manages to make a mockery of any on-road and off-road challenge, it wasn't much on counts of cabin space and comfort. Mahindra has sought to change all of that as it looks to make Thar 2020 appeal to a wider set of audience instead of being a very capable niche player in the Indian automobile market.👍👍👍👍👍

I suppose this is true since a lot of the promo stock footage/pictures show a thar without the roof, and the convertible would still have had the folded roof at the rear. And if its the same mechanical locking diff as before, it would be the automatic LSD type Eaton m-locker. im curious how that works with the brake-based torque vectoring..

I know what you are talking about but i think you are getting a bit confused.. i hope i can explain a bit better. i am a professional auto-tester and freelance for an auto KZbin show in Germany (kzbin.info/aero/PLv7RkW53_QVrVuYriARUYoiU1ZdI8COca). what you are describing is what is commonly known as a brake-based torque vectoring system (the Thar also gets this, in addition to the "MLD"). this is effectively a software that uses the wheel speed sensors and the hydraulic modulator that come with the ABS and ESP system. when there is slip in an axle, the wheel which is slipping gets braked and hence the torque flows to the other wheel with traction (torque transfer doesn't just happen magically as a simple open diff is a purely mechanical component :P).. this is also what enables the hill-hold and hill-descent systems (again, just software using the same hardware). But the rear axle has what they are calling a "mechanical locking differential" . A traditional MLD would require manual intervention to lock and unlock the differential. what it really is in the thar is a limited slip differential of sorts (here is the working animation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5yYg3R5bdajr9E). "Utilizing a flyweight mechanism and self-energizing clutch, Eaton MLocker engages in low traction situations when a wheel speed difference of 100 RPM".. so, i am wondering how the two automatic systems (the brake-based torque vectoring and MLocker) will work in conjunction at the rear axle. since they said that the "brake lock differential" is on both axles and the "MLD" is on the rear.. hope you understand it now

Mahindra vehicles used to be the primary vehicles up there on the hills at some time. Then came the Japanese vehicles which were really capable and then Mahindra's market share shrank. Then there was the public transport aspect where the older DI engines plied to and fro, loaded with people to the brim and served the rural communities where a lack of regular roads made it very difficult for other vehicles to manage. Sumos in the past changed that. Now there are Force vehicles, Tempo etc which have entrenched themselves in those markets as well. So let's see how this one fits the bill as the younger lot would gravitate towards the appeal, but for the pragmatic hill people it may be a different story.

Is there a four door version planned soon? Only a long test drive will show whether a Creta buyer (for example) will choose this one. It depends how close Mahindra has made this to drive over a normal car on the road. Old Thar owners would find this a huge improvement for sure. I know what you are saying. Day 1 of the unveil I was like I have to have this. Now it is a different story. Mahindra should not have given so much space between the unveil and the actual bookings. Heart moment is well past and now the brain has taken over and this version is definitely not cutting it for me. Maybe the updated version would have removed the various kinks of this iteration and maybe then the heart and the mind would find a common ground.

I just miss the LX model for offroad and city driving... My parents cannot get inside through that front door
