Mahindra Thar : Sand to Snow | 24 hour challenge | 2022 | evo India

Can you drive from sand to snow in 24 hours? We take the Mahindra Thar and start off with bashing dunes in the Thar desert before undertaking an epic 1300km drive over the good, bad and ugly of Indian highways, before hitting Manali, crossing the Atal Tunnel and finding snow in the Himalayas. In the process two Mahindra Thars with the mStallion turbo-petrol engine driven by Indian National Rally Champion Gaurav Gill, Raid-de-Himalaya and Desert Storm winner Suresh Rana, desert expert Madan Choudhary and editor Sirish Chandran set a new record certified by the India Book of Records. I own the same thar petrol AT CT, I have driven it thru rocks, Forrest, Farms, beaches, hills, villages and obviously tight city roads. In less than one year it has seen Pune, Hyderabad, Goa, Mahabaleshwar, Tapola... counting to many more adventures. Next wish is north east India and then snows, then Sand !

This video just demolishes the argument that the Thar is just an offroader and a city dweller. Those who did not buy this because they thought its not good for long drives (and ended up buying Cretas/Seltoses) have eggs on their face. As usual Evo India rocks.

Fantastic work guys. This inspired me on a whole different level. I was keen on buying a diesel but i noticed that both of these were petrols. Why no diesel? Any particular reason behind it? My reason for zeroing on diesel was thankful to thankful range is lot better and the diesel too is happier around 100kmph. Sure the petrol can be happier post 100kmph comparatively but the thing is thar itself won't make you feel good beyond 100-120 kmph regardless of engine options! Isn't it?

Amazing inspiring trip guys, and congratulations on the record run. Thar is like a magical car however I am bit worried about it’s ride quality, it is too bouncy for my liking. Perhaps a long wheel base Thar can improve on that. Excellent video, keep up the good work Shirish and Evo Team. 👍

It's of course a short wheelbase ladder frame 4x4 so the ride will never be fully settled but all things considered and the ability on tap it is very good
